Does the 1k have a "thinner" sound than the others?

Ive heard alot of criticism of the sound quality of the 1k, and that the older models actually provide more flavor and fullness to the sound quality..

And funnily sometimes i can hear the difference in other peoples recordings. And im not referring to the mix or the masters of those recordings, the drums and samples just tend to have "flatter" sound. even when the masters are done proffessionally.

personally, i value the sound quality over editing features, and i was wondering if itwas more logical to for a 2k, 2kxl etc..? and if there really are better filters in the older models?

1000 and 2500 have the same sound engine. older models color their outs. 2000xl's converters are more "Warm."

i find the 1000 to leave the sounds as i recorded them. once it all gets tracked out and edited/eqed, compressed in the daw, who would know?

the most noticeable difference is the pitching algorhythms in the mpc1000/2500 os's as compared to the older models.

I have both the 1k and 2kxl and recently converted all my beats to the 1k. When doing so i had them both hooked up side by side and compared the same beats on the two, and i rarley noticed any difference besides the FX's setting on the 2kxl can be more complex and hard to mimic on the 1k.

On most of the beats i couldn't tell which mpc was playing, the 1k packs a nice punch just like the 2kxl. Although i would say that my mpc2000xl has a smoother highs, or a lack of the highs you could say. This can be adjusted on the 1k main out eq.
And since the 2kxl has SIMULT, its easy to make phat drums quickly. But all in all, i can make my 1k bang louder than my 2kxl out the box thanx to the compressor.

If you sample alot and big, go for the 1k/2500. Otherwise the 2kxl is probably a better choice since its layout and feel is perfect. If it was faster and had possibilty to sample while recording i would never sell it.
