Homies, help me out here.
I got the MV on a deal 3 months ago so true I had to do it. Its a shizzle beat making box for real. But I keep hearing a difference in the beats groove between MPC and MV when I watch those online videos of MPcs and MVs. I dont mean a looped vibe from vinyl I mean programmed beats. In the mv you have to play real good or it wont work I play good, but man does it need to be so hard and need like twenty takes to get it down. I have to move notes to for them to lock on even with full q in action. Would I need to do this with an MPC 4K? even with the quantise on the hardest tightest setting you better play that groove in time on the mv.
anyone here switch from an MV to 4k. come on lay it down for me and no moves man just the facts and keep the akai fanboy comedy to one side, I make music and sell those beats - If Im changing I gotta be sure. I aint here for yor comedy hour.

Lay it on homies.

You will get more info with a search and the comparsion forum like I advise before.

Here what a little search can do.

http://www.mpc-forums.com/viewtopic.php?t=52343

Plus since you are in the com forum search the back pages for all the goodies.

In my opinion its up to the users. It doesn`t matter which if you learn your gear like the previous person said.

whats not easy? the operating or the playing the beats on the pads
I have watched every mpc 4k on the net and they all dead easy to program no fancy shizz goin down. I watch the guy play the beats out of time on the MPc and it plays back with a tight groove. no phased hats and wrong placed notes just sitting there dragging down the beat. The mvs not hard to work but Im not feelin the vibe. check out the videos on the mv theres a looseyness where the beats out of time. Are those guys deaf or summit.

come on talk to me.

If any homies here make music for life you will know how to answer my question.

Tell Me.

Yo D. I'm a MV convert. I posted a bunch in the last two dayz since Beat-hoven won the King of the Beats with a MV. I was corrected on the MPC site that the producer won the contest and not the machine. I had a MV for about 4 months and then bought a MPC2500. Once I banged out a beat on the MPC I started wrapping my MV up in the box to trade it in to get some cash back. As I mentioned in a post on the comparison site, the MV is great for things where everything needs to land on one&two. If you want a true swing, not shuffle, but swing, the MPC gives it up proper. Straight off. The MV also gives a nice big sound, as I'm sure you know. But to me, the MPC is a better hip hop machine to me. I am a drummer by training so I can play. But I too would need to clown around with my beats in the MV way too much. Wit my MPC2500, beats are true and swing. Mike Acosta, I'm sure you know if you went to MV Nations forums, swears you can get the same kind of swing in the MV if set up properly. We unfortunately, I guess one of those dudes who couldn't get it set up properly. I didn't have to set up nothin with the MPC. I just banged out 8 bars and it came out just like I wanted it to. I wanted the 4000 but couldn't see paying $3 grand for a machine that didn't give me digital I/O and/or 8 individual outs. I bought a 80gig HD for $100 and upgraded the RAM in my 2500, so I'm good. If the MPC4k had the I/Os I would have copped it. You get way more for your money with the MV, but it leaves you wanting for sequencing and sound. I had never owned a MPC, but had been an Ensoniq user (EPS and ASR10). Then I got the MV. Once I bought the MPC and banged one out, I fell in love with the sound and sequencer and forgot all about what features it didn't have. If I were you, I'd get a 2500 or a 4K, because to me they are the only ones that come close to the MV features list, and keep it for the 14 days before return policy. Bang out some beats on both machines and compare for yourself. That's the only way. If you freak the MPC and forget the MV is sitting there, then go for it. But at times you will miss the features and synthesized sounds in the MV. This is the perspective from somebody who used both machines and loved em both. Hope this helps. One.

Yo Prophace yous daman

for sure you got it down.

I didn't have to set up nothin with the MPC.

am feelin ya on this. You know its like set the input quantise on the mv and still the beats loosy then you mess with the track quantise and still not right then its down on the rec switch again even if you hittin up the beat right on first time. Dont matter how it goes down im not feelin the MV. Its gonna be a 4k for sure.

for sure im gonna read all of your posts.

Im owe you one homie hit me up any time.

One D. I get clowned on these sites all the time. Dudes be lookin to put you down or tryin find a kink in your armour. I'ma soldier doe. A true vet in this production game. So dese little n__gas don't phase me.

But for real, I got the 2500 and I'm happy with it for now. Once I learn it, I might jump to the 4K. It just looks beast, and I'm one of those dudes who WILL use the features. Also, I think the 4K doesn't have the sync problems that plaque the 2500. But in defense of the MV, it has great synthesized sounds and I would love to have one in the studio for some ol different shiit sometimes. But I'm happy right now wit da 2500. One.

I own both the 4000 and MV coming from the MPC-2000 ,S-950, and S-1100 and K2000. It comes down to what interface and OS you're comfortable with. Your beats will sound only as good as your talent allows no matter what you use.

As far as the timing issue goes, many users of the MV ( and sequencers in general) get sloppy results due to recording at too high of a PPQN setting. If your music is rigid the resolution should be reduced. The looseness you talked about will be present on any machine set to record too much detail.

The MV doesn't budge when the PPQN and grid strength match properly with your playing and the music's style.

Bad timing with a sampler/seq. is usually due to three factors:

* Bad timing of the musician
* Poorly edited and placed samples
* Sequencer resolution set too high

The end result of either machine can be replicated on the other. There are no magic buttons on either. In fact with both machines it's usually a case of not learning how to harness the power of the MPC or MV. If you should switch be informed that you will be simply using a different means to produce the same quality of music.

To clarify: The MV has a bass synth that was added through a software update and is rendered through it's effects engine. Other than that there are no sounds in the MV, just starter kits on the HD. The MC does have such sounds.
