2KXL vs. 1K vs. 2.5K vs. Asr-10 etc...

Ok, I have the 2KXL and Asr-10 combo right now and I feel my workflow is struggling, it seems slower than when I was using the 1k. I miss the filters on the 1k and the mono programs too. I am no beatmaking master , I am more into rap right now, and I have a problem, because I feel I have more gear than I need and that it slows me down when it gets to beatmaking. I have also bought the Yamaha mixer mg10/2 to pass my turntable, mpc and the asr through it, and I hear noise when I record into my computer. I am a bit worried that I'll never be happy with what I have, The question is should I sell the asr, xl and the mixer to buy myself the 2500 and some vinyl, or should I sell the xl to get the 1k (i have bad experience with the pads of the older model, my friend is using the black one for a half a year now and it works great) and keep the asr or would you advice me to sell it all and get the 1k and some nice monitors. I just need suggestions, I feel like an idiot, because i always start to feel unhappy with what I have, thanks for any advice.

I think you answered your own question.

If you miss something, it must have been special for you and the way it worked for you're needs.

I say sell the XL and ASR, grab a new 1000 BK (that way you get the warranty) and keep the mixer or replace it for a better one (a Mackie) and spend the rest on a nice sound card like the Focusrite Le, or grab some good monitors like KRK's RP6.

That should get you back to the work flow you enjoyed in the first place, better signal flow and an improved little kit.

I have the focusrite Le and I could sell the mixer, plug the turntable into the 1k and 1k into the focusrite saffire le, that is what I am thinking about now. I can buy the RP6s and still have some more money for the vinyl, that would be great. I have made great buys on the xl and the asr, and I would earn about 500 dollars if i sold them, so I wouldn't even regret it. Thank you for the advice, this seems to be the best way so far.

I say get the 2500. It is damn near the same as the 1000 as far as layout with no pad problems and you get the ergonomics of the 2000xl .

Anyone else? The 2500 is a good choice too, the 1k pads are the only thing that worries me a bit.

i dunno, people are never satisfied with their gear. you've got yourself a tight setup right there. I'd say maybe get more vinyls, and then just work your way around 1 piece at a time until you master both the ASR and the MPC. People've been making great beats with the same equipments you've got for years.

I don't really see the necessity in changing up the gear, especially replacing the ASR + 2Kxl combo by a 1K, but whatever floats your boat. if you're more familiar with the workflow of the 1k, get a 1k. Otherwise, i think you should keep what you have and learn how to use them.

i agree, unless u have done everything there is to do with the xl and asr i say keep them. Master them both and get familiar/comfortable working with them, and then after that if u still feel its not right, then get new stuff. The last thing u want to is to regret selling something after some time.
