Upgrade my 2000 to a 2500 or not?

I've been with my 2k classic for a while now, but have the opportunity to get a mint condition 2500 for a great price (£450). It has the 128MB expansion and 80GB hard drive.
I'm just wondering whether I need it though.
I also own Ableton Live and Logic 8, so am wondering whether I would need the extra features of a 2500 when my software can take care of effects and timestretching etc. I also chop using recycle and use REX2MPC to transfer to my 2k. I also sometimes trigger a software sampler (EXS24) with the 2k, but the EXS24 is a fairly slow process to set up with zones and groups etc.
I am also wondering about specifics- how do the filters on the 2500 compare to the 2000? Is there a much quicker workflow? Is the USB system that much better than zips? How the track mutes compare? General sound? Timestretch quality? Is the mute groups a big feature?
Any other input greatly appreciated.
One of my worries is passing up this opportunity knowing in the back of my mind that the 2000 is an old machine and might be on a limited life, the availability of zips and all that. Already sometimes some of the buttons require a hard press to get them to operate.

I don't have any experience with the 2000 or the 2500, but the 2500 is pretty much the same as the 1000 with jj (I got that). The 2k is a classic. I have reason and protools and do all the construction from my mpc. Most of my effects are done through my DAW's but the laydown is MPC. I can't sit in front of the screen that long and play with all the controls. MY eyes get tired and I lose ideas. You can't nod your head while drawin with the mouse. Do you plan on keeping your 2k if you get the 2500? I think you should so any time you feel like you need a break from the 2500, or anything like that, you can mess around with the 2k. def buy the 2k.

Ha ha yeah I wish I could keep the 2k but it will definitely need to be sold if I go for the 2500.

Well, save you floppy's/zips because if you ever want to go back to the 2k or if friends have it and you don't want to lug your 2500, you can still use the 2k with you songs. If you don't end up liking the 2500, you can trade it back for a 2k, no prob. You will prob get some change back. But you should be happy with the 2500.
