IAM STUCK ON WHICH ONE TO GET KORG M3 OR MPC 5000

i did some research on both and the m3 is looking pretty good and the 5000 is sweet but the m3 has 480ppq and the 5000 has 960ppq i did some research on ppq and find that people seem to like 480ppq better than 960ppq.

M3 user here. Judging by what u got already, I'd say go for the M3. There's really no need to have two MPCs.

i had two mpc's well three at one point (2000xl, 1000 and 2500) sold all but the 2500 and get a super cheap sampler to replace the 1000 (roland ms-1 was like 100$).

id say if you get the 5k then get rid of the 2500

If you were running the Akai OS on your 2500 selling the 2500 (while you still can) to get the 5k and later adding the M3, Fantom G or Motif XS would seem like the way to go.
However since you have JJ OS2 you really have to look at what you will actually lose by giving that up compared to what you would gain with the 5k.

I can't see comparing the M3 to the 5k since they are designed for 2 different purposes.

Well if you keep the 2500 and grab the M3 you will have the MPC functions with a digital tone generator/ synthesizer.

If you go with the 5000 I believe the oscilators are analog. Plus the sample capabilities.

Ppq is just the chromatic resolution of the sequencer data. With 960ppq you can do the same as with 480ppq, plus more! Higher ppq = better resolution of sequencer data.

By the way. Get the MicroKorg. It's cheap and cool at the same time !
