quick question If you have the mpc1000 ****HELP

I had a 4000 and got rid of it ,I now cant afford the 4000 but still want to make music...im lookin at the 1000 .and the features I deff. need are the time correction & step edit grid..and be able to rec. a sample ( guitar ) while the beat is still playing ...i went to guitar center and the 2000xl was not able to rec a sample while the beat plays ...and i did not see a step edit grid...I know the 2500 and the 1000 come with new OS but does anyone one know if these featurs come with any other modes maybee eventhe 500...
