I started out with the MPC500 had it for a week went back to Guitar Center and exchanged it for a 1000. I never looked back to the 500 and the 1000 has made all the difference. Plus with addition of JJ OS I am married to my 1000.
Basically the 1000 with the JJ OS can do everything the 2500 can. The difference in the 2500 and 1K is the 2500 have more MIDI outs which is good if your using more than one sound module. Also you have more assignable output up to 8 I think (10 if your utilizing the L/R stereo output. The 1 K has only 6.
