500 vs. 2000/2000xl

I have never used an MPC before but I would like to buy one. I am on a very tight budget (I am only 15), and have narrowed it down between the 500 or 2000/2000xl. I like the 500 becuase it is portable, and like the 2000 becuase it is a classic and looks easier to use. I would like to make all of my beats exclusively on the MPC (if that matters) unless there is a program that goes hand and hand with the MPC. Please let me know what you think.
