One or Both?

Just got a MPC1000 And the pad sensitivity thing is really getting to me.

I guess it's because I have been working with a MPC2000XL for a while now and I have been spoiled by the perfect pads on that thing.

I am currently trying to sell my MPC2000XL but I am starting to second guess my "Upgrade"

I have the new Single-Sheet pads, doing the Silicon Glue Fix, and am about to get JJOS1 4.99 so Hopefully that will improve the pads.

But my Main question is, should I keep both? Because the more I use the MPC1000....the more I miss the 2000XL........

It's just discouraging to have to spend 180$(pads) + 50$ (JJOS) in order to MAYBE get the pads working like my machine that has 12 year old technology!

theres kids out there can only dream of being able to afford an mpc, that are willing to make whole songs with a non sampler drum machine and a shitty $5 mic ...... SO WHAT DO YOU WANT TO DO ?

Just send me the 2000xl, without it, you'll have to remain on the MPC1000 and learn to love it over time.

Seriously, you have two machines, the 1000 has it's benefits and the xl has it's benefits also. As dodge said above, you're spoilt for choice and a lot of people can't afford one MPC, let alone two. Just keep both of them.

calibrate your pads. the problem is on your end until you fix your software
jjos1 won't cut it, either, you need to be able to adjust the note on threshold before you can really tailor the pads to what you need.

Nym, I just got JJOS1 v4.99i (The latest OS1) and I think it has the settings that you speak of. After getting over having to pay 50$ for JJ's illegally pirated code, now that my headache has subsided I am at the pad sensitivity screen.

I'm looking at the screen now it has the # above each pad Graph Adjustable from 2-25 and on the right it has Curve/Pad On Level/Velocity/Pressure

So I think the new 4.99i JJOS1 should be sufficient, the pads seem better with what little adjustment I have made so far, I am going to test them out later tonight.

I guess I just got ridiculously discouraged getting this new toy and having it pretty much not work as well as my 2KXL did (I was having to bruise my fingers just to get a note hit) Now I just have to do some more reading and see if the Black Pads are softer.

the sooner you get over the attitude the better you'll be. also do some more research about what you're mistakenly describing as "illegally pirated code."

pad on level is what you need to adjust. the higher you go, the less current is required to cause a NOTE ON. you'll also want to consider filling the 1mm gap in between pad and sensor with silicon glue, as this gap causes an unpredictable playing response.

I had the feeling this was really an issue when I was still running 3.08.
Since I upgraded to 4.99 I have no more problems with the pad response.

Connect midi cables to both MPC's and use the 2KXL as a pad controller for the 1K.
