2500 or 5000: Which one?

Had the 5k for three weeks now use to have a 2000xl.
Cant imagine what 2500 would be like to work with, but with the 5k things go with a flow and thats pre OS2.

If I had to buy a new MPC out of the store tomorrow, I would go with the 5k.
It's just more flexible, plus it has the 8 digital out built in. Seems perfect for anyone with a digi 00x system, since you could pipe over 8 tracks at once from the 5k to your computer DAW while reserving the 8 analog inputs on your 00x for whatever else you want to throw in there.
Maybe the 5k doesn't live up to being the next flagship to follow the 4k, but that doesn't make it a total piece of garbage - it just means that it caps off at 192MB of RAM and has a card reader instead of a host USB port, plus adat and 8 outs standard instead of on an expansion card.
I'd keep the 5k myself. I think what you get for the extra few hundred bucks is worth it.
Man, I cant even get my girl to buy me the Roger Linn upgrade for my 60 or the Rohan upgrade for my 3k

Here's an idea:

You could have gone ahead and let her believe that the 5000 is "better" than the 2500.

In which case she would have kept the 5000 (with the idea that she was getting you the superior more expensive machine) without returning it for a 2500; or she would have gone ahead and bought the 5000 (if she hadn't already) thinking that she was getting you the better more expensive machine.

Then come Christmas time you could have acted all excited and happy that she got the 5000.

(Now we are all in agreement that the 5000 costs more than a used 2500)

You could have held on to the 5000 and checked it out, given it a little test drive and stuff. Then while she isn't looking go ahead and sell it, and use the money to get a used 2500. In which case you would have the 2500 and extra money in your pocket to get all the upgrades and still even after that probably have money left over to get your wife something nice.

Then you could pull off the old, oh I didn't feel right having such a nice machine, so i wanted to get something nice for you.

Bam that would be like a win-win-win situation. You get to test drive the 5000 and see if you would even like it, and if you didn't, you get to buy a fully upgraded 2500, and get something nice for your wife too.

I know we're way passed Christmas, but that was just a hypothetical idea.
