Maybe you already mentioned this, but is it too late for you to get your money back?

If you could, you could buy a slightly used 1000 with the new pads and not be out any more money- that's probably what I would do.

I don't really dislike anything about the 500 -- I don't travel enough to warrant purchasing a mobile MPC when that same money could be spent on other gear. If the reason for purchase isn't mobility, then I would go the 1000 route because of the JJOS (and extra pads).

Sure, it look a little strange with 12 pads instead of 16. But the 500 is a MPC and it's only going to sound as good as the samples you put into it.

I'm in sort of the same predicament. I have the 500 and would like to get the 1000. A friend of mine knows someone selling their 1000 for only $700 with a few upgrades, namely the jjos and a bigger HD. I just feel kind of like a goober for recently purchasing the 500 only to turn around and get the 1000. Long story short would it be worth it, I'm guessing yeah, I just need a little encouagement.

I'd still do the same thing- try to return the 500 and use that money towards the used 1000.
