Renaissance vs. Tempest

I know Renaissance aint out yet, but I wanted to be the FIRST ONe to create this thread before somebody else. SO lets speculate about this right here in my thread because it's great

I definitely still want/need/must own the Tempest! I'm open to being convinced of the merits of the Ren though.

My Tempest will be getting picked up on Monday. I will laugh at the the new "MPController" users at my choice of hardware (please note the MPController is not hardware. Just thought I'd play a little joke there :p)

But it must be said the Tempest is an analogue drum machine. The MPController is just a controller that can't produce any sounds on its own.

They are pretty much complete opposites.

MPC Software Controller VS Analog Hardware Drum Machine.

If I had to buy one, Tempest hands down

Possibly not the best comparison. Maschine vs. Renaissance is the most logical. Tempest is pretty much out there on it's own these days, which isn't a bad thing. Despite price Tempest floors this controller.

Yeah man. But note this is my last purchase. Officially broke after that. I've had to refactor my setup a bit and get rid of some toys I don't use or need such as the Koasillator and the other Virus is on sale.

I ended up getting a job in web development rather than running my own stuff so I can focus on my music more (I get 2 days off + weekends) and not have the stress of running a business. Personal choice but I'm 27, I need to get down with my passion ... music.

Tempest? $2000 for an analog drum machine? No thanks. I would rather spend the money on an analog synth like te Voyager Rack. MPC for drums all day long.

Don't you think the Linn Drum 2 would be a better comparison because it actually can sample as opposed to the Tempest and is therefore like an MPC? Still waiting for that shit, I hope when I am ready to move from my sp 404 to something bigger the Linn Drum II is out so I can cop that
As for the Tempest vs Ren debate, probably Tempest? It seems to be good at doing what it's supposed to do and appearently it has a lot of potential, the mpc on the other hand makes sceptical, they couldn't even get the Hardware OS right last time, how are they gonna make the jump to software without that shit being full of bugs?
Plus, the Tempest has a compact and sturdy build, the first thing I thought when I saw the new MPC was that it looks pretty cheap... even cheaper than the 2500.

Tempest is nice man. I used one in a local store, spent about an hour on it. The hype around the Tempest is valid, and very real. The majority of the music scene is up in arms over it.

Thanks but no thanks to an over priced drum machine. I will not pay $2000 just to create a drum pattern when an MPC can do it just fine. Analog synths is where my money would be better spent. I haven't heard or seen any demo that would make me want to part $2000 for the Tempest.

Where did you check it out? I know I'm not too far from you so I'm guessing somewhere in Brum?

DV mate. I know a DJ that works in the Birmingham store. He bought the one I was going to collect tomorrow. Gotta wait for the delivery on Monday.
