2500 VS. 1000

Ok, another one of these. I have read the other comparison threads between 1000/2500. They mostly focus on durabilty, ease of use, etc.
I am aware of the enhanced functions of the JJos in the 1000. I have also made a couple of beats with both units, but not been able to spend quite enough time with either to make a good decision.

What I can't figure out from other posts or using them thus far is:
Does the 2500 have clear advantages over the 1000?
Load times? Is the tracking of the realtime filtering or pitch manipulation via knobs and sliders any better on either of the units?
true differences in the grid mode and the jj1000 gridmode, etc.
Any vital features that one just doesn't have vs. the other.

Anyone who can chime in on something other than the standard
"yes, the 2500 is bigger and built much better", it would be a great help.

if you can afford it off the bat I would go 2500, but if you want portability I would easily go 1000. I own the 1000 now, and that thing is awesome...

Next year I plan on upgrading to the 2500. I may still keep the 1000 also.

Yeah, I dig what you saying but...can anyone talk about the actual difference in performance. I did all the basics with these two, but haven't done a whole day of work on either, so I'm interested in specifics, like: difference in load times, difference in grid options, differences in knob/slider resolutions, things like that.

in terms of OS specs: they are the same (i am talking about the JJ os of course) :

- loading is quite fast on those two mpc.

- if you have an heavy midi environnement, you should consider the 2500 with her 4 midi output, the 2 sliders and 2 knobs, as we have now midi CC from the sliders, you can have realtime control on most of your audio devices. (vital)

- if you need 8 output you will have to get the 2500 (vital also)

sliders on the 2500 have a better look and feel. i am not sure the specs are different, but probably easier to use. (especially if you have a big hand

resolutions of the sliders can be improve when limiting the sliders range. i never counted the number of steps, i should one day...

- the jj os is awesome, i think no one can state all the benefits we have in one thread you may take a look at the online manual, there is plenty of screen shot, you will find all your infos there :

you can also consider the the same price :

- a mpc 2500
- two mpc 1000
- an mpc 1000 along an mpd 24 (for the big pads feelings) and a little midi patch bay.

i would see the mpc 2500 as a little improved version of the mpc1000, but nothing for justifying the price difference. this is of course a personnal opinion on the subject.

Someone stated here that the cpu of the two is exactly the same, so speed and os capabilty should be no difference, can anyone confirm this?

They are both limited to 32 voices, that might be a hint, what about the midi resolution?

but I think the screen would go out on a Palm Pilot before it does on the pads...

oh... what about an interface that allows connecting an MPD24 to a Palm Pilot?
