Which of the MPC's? The MPC60, the MPC4000 and the MPC2500 is very different from each other, and compared to the MV's some will be very far from the MV. The MPC400 is closer to the MV than for example the MPC60 and MPC3000, which is very basic machines.
Some of the similar stuff is that they are all a sampler with an integrated sequencer in a machine. They all have 16 velocity sensitive rubber pads, and many of the same sample editing possibilities.

I did a search and the only thing i could find was the MV was superior to any current MPC. Is this correct?

I have had both teh MPC 1000 and MV8000
Even though the MV has much more features i choose the mpc1000.

"unlogical" in which way? of course you have to learn the machine first. and if you are used to a mpc of course the mv will be different.
i never had any "logical" problems with my mv... i had a few other. but they are minor problems.
and os version 3.5 gives you a LOT of features. a lot.

I had the latest software and compared the 8000 to the 8800
almost identical so thats no sollution for its flaws
logical problems, with that i mean that some things need to many actions like assigning etc goes by 3 or 4 actions instead of 2 would be enough.
I know it takes tiem to learn the equipment and i did, i know how it works and still dont like it.

I don't know what you compared when you say too many steps to assign, but that's false information....all I have to do is hit the clipboard and touch the pad that I wanna use.....it's done!

Unlogical? Well if you used the MV for a long time and mastered it....you might say the MPC was UNlogical.....it's what you get used to! Better yet, if your car had the steering on the right side....may seem odd....unlogical, but to people overseas that drive that way it makes sence!
I like both the Akai & Roland devices, but just because I picked the MV as my weapon, I will never say the MPC is UNlogical. It just doesn't fit my workflow sounds better!

haha.
i've been working on the mv every day for the last 2 years. i now a lot of the mv's flaws. but i also know a lot of it's strength. you can't be serious that only because you cannot assign samples the way you say (i never had that problem), the mv is not a fantastic sampler/sequencer with pro-features and converters.
i think the "mpc for live!" you wrote says it all. it's more about attitude or even corporate identity than the actual facts.

p.s. the last os-version of the mv-8000 is 3.5. the new mv-8800 starts with 1.03, which means: there will be future os-updates making the mv even stronger. ah, and the updates are for free. and they are from the company that actually produced the machine. might sound strange to a mpc-head.
