2000 classic vs. 3000

get the 3000

if its on your mind already, its probably never going to go away until you satisfy that itch...

and if you're wrong about it..all you've wasted was time, you'll be able to sell your 3000 and get another 2000...

if you do keep it, fix the parts yourself, most of them are solder jobs, if your not proficient i think radio shack and some other electronic stores sell like those kits with a board and several fuses and whatnot that you can practice soldering and desolering with...

i'd still recommend you sell that thing haha

and just make wahtever money you can and just get that 3000, i think most people who've switched from whatever machine to the 3000 have never looked back and somewhat snob the other machines.. haha

I say keep your 2k
and try and get the 3000 next to it

Not really.I just totaled up the parts costs. $330.Shit I can sell the 2000 and get a 3000 with alittle bit more than that.

If you are already acustomed to the 2000XL then I wouldn't suggest you'd change... i'm going to quote myself from another topic:


regarding 2000XL vs. 3000 - truth be told (my opinion and I've owned both) there's not a big difference - I do believe however, that you'll find the 2000XL way easier to work on.
The learning curve of the 3000 is steeper - not because it has more features (which it don't) but because it's doing everything the oldschool way.
I sold my 2kXL before getting the 3000 so I took a chance. If I had the choise again, to keep my 2kxl or get the 3000 I probably would've kept the 2000 - because the difference is so small.
to me... the biggest difference is the apperance of the machines and the workflow...
No matter what other people say - chopping on the 2000XL is faster and you'll probably be more productive (if you work with a lot of chops)
An experienced 3000 user working on the 3000, would probably chop a sample as quick as a new/avg user working on a 2000 would.

with that beeing said - I wouldn't trade my 3000 back for a 2000XL (again i feel the difference is minor) If I had to consider trading my 3000 it would be for a 4000. But then again, I'm not sure I'd need all the extra features...

i see no reason to ditch the 2k if you mainly use outboard midi gear... unless you need more than the 2 ports... but you can almost always work around stuff like that - using the thru ports and whatever...

so is the mpc 3000 worth the doe?
