I kind of want to trade my mpc 1000 for an old 2000xl

I don't exactly knwo why but i have this feelign i shoudl trade my mpc1000bk wit hteh new pads for an older mpc 2000xl and an s950....somethign abotu watching videos of great producers using it, with floppy disks and stuff, i knwo its slower but it jsut seems cool to me i dont know...

hopefully tomorrow ill wake up and realise not to do that, but rightn ow i want to, and even thoguh i know ill basically be downgrading i feel like i should. not sure if i feel guilty i have a buunch of new equipment and i cant use much of it well or what...EDIT: ok, well ive been trying to convince myself not to and palying with my 1000 anddecided ill keep it, but i still want to get an s950...as logn as it is compatible with the 1000

it wouldnt be down grading.

ive used one since just over a year ago.

doesnt the 1000 have some cool effects/delay stuff?

the xl has no effects etc, unless you install the board which ive heard is nt worth the money or time.

why not use garageband? i just would use anything that comes my way.

you have equipment? because seriously i hav nothing, not even an amp or a turntable that works properly, and i tell you, mixing is certainly hell when you dont have a mixer or computer that isnt faulty.

Man i was thinking the same thing a while back i have a mpc1k also and i was thinking of trading it for a mpc2000xl.alot of people told me i will be making a big mistake and i will be down grading just like you said.but do what you feel man but before you do it you should try out a mpc2000xl so you wont be wasting valuable time and money.I based my decision off of me and not other peoples opinions...I still have a mpc1000

i recently just bought an mpc 2000xl (am still an owner of a 1000) i havent had a chance to really try it out as ive been sick, but ill probably hook it up today and i will give you my thoughts on it.

Make due with what you have. If there's nothing wrong with your 1000 (pads are a big issue i've heard) stick with it. Experiment with different techniques to get some grit in your sound before getting a S950. Like most equipment there's things the 2000XL does better and worse than a 1000.

if your not feeling the work flow on the 1000 maybe its time for a change. you will be more happy with the pads and personally i couldn't leave the workflow (i used to rock a 500) took me 3 weeks to kinda know the 500 and once i got the 2000xl i had a beat by that night. givin by that time i was more used to akai's menu style.(before the 500 i was on fl and reason). i couldn't stand the cheap china feel of the 500, and when i have briefly used the new 2kxl and 2500 they had the same feel. but thats just me and i also hate recording on a comp so i may not be the person to trust, but hope i helped.

If you "Have that feeling", just do it. I have that same feel about year ago..
I got an 1000 first, and after one year, i trade that to 2000xl and i have no regrets.. That touch is just so much better and i don't get headac anymore when i chop samples and everythin..

wow what a trip thats EXACTLY how I feel about my new 1000 I recently bought. I sold my 2000XL and still feel bad about that move. I had the sound FX card which I personally felt was amazing (people **** but those efx were in fact DOPE) The XL is smooth and once you know it you really know it. I could run that baby with my eyes shut.
The 1000 is like driving 4 blocks around town to try and go across the street. maybe Ill get it but at the moment I still prefer the 4000 (as I still have that and CANNOT go back to my 2000XL) The ONLY thing keeping me cool with the 1000 is that it is dope (just slow worklflow) and the amazing harddrive and USB Port. I ALMOST kept my XL and had an internal harrdrive installed but couldnt find the correct mod so I said F$C* it and just bought the 1000 with a harddrive installed.
The XL is GOLDEN

it's obvious the problem isnt the 1k, its you. and if you're the problem, a 950 and/or 2k will not fix anything. maybe take up golf? jk jk of course

I would NEVER swop my XL for a 1K...

Just comes down to personal preference I guess.
