MPC 2500 VS. MPC 3000

If you ever used an XL/2000 and you came out with crappy sounding music...point your finger where the blame belongs...your production/engineering skills......noisy, muffled, 12 bit recordings do not equate to quality.....

You guys should just post two tracks made with your two different mpcs and settle this.

the reason why those bigger heads use the 2k and 2kxl i'm willing to bet is because they started on them because that's all they could afford. that's what they're used to and they don't want to learn another box as that'd take time.

i know of this producer, did HUGE tracks, used just a 2k, why? because he says he doesn't want to learn anything new. he's got tons n tons of money. doesn't even want to up it to a 2kxl. I thin kthe guy's just a jerkoff. but that's just me.

imho the 3000 sounds better than the 2500. the 2500 offers more features though. some really **** cool features(resampling i think is #1), I think with that resampling feature, you can just use that, buy a nice neve eq, a nice tube compressor, just work everything together that way. and have some bumpin tracks.

mpc3000 does sound dope right outta the box tho, you don't have to do much to the sound. it's really amazing for 16 bit to really have that much punch. Also the sequencer is dreamy...lol... it's very relaxing to work on. i'm used to the 60 now with the 3000 os, but had the 3000 before, and all i know is workin on these is a dream. I can chill out, relax, really listen to waht i'm doing, and enjoy working on music. wit the others i've had, it wasn't so easy:( i get pissy so easy:(

Dude, I cant stand the stupidity of this comment anymore. Are you serious? I think maybe your ears are broken.

I can live with the argument that maybe, maybe, just maybe, there is a slight difference in sound, but to suggest, imply, etc., that they sound like shiiite is just STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPID.

The 2500 wins hand down!

you don't know what these guys do. if you did you'd be making the same money and not gloating over making $650 selling an s6000 you probably put too much time and money into.

This is just a hobby that I enjoy putting time into. As far as money...I sold the S6000 more than what I paid for it. I found it a better home. The Fantom XR and XV5080 can handle the S6000s sampling load.

yahrome, you try to say that the 2000xl sound the same as for instance a 3000, both without any plugin or outboard gear....

I can hear the diffence but maybe i just have a sensitive hearing

not everyone is capable of hearing the differences. I can utterly hera the diffrence now with my mpc1000 and an mpc3000 it seems so obvious...O.o and the 1000 imho sounds better than the mpc2kxl

Yesterday...I almost had a panic. I was listening to a John Legend CD track (I think number 2 or 3) sampled in my MPC. It sounded horrible. First I thought it was my speakers..than I realized it was the MPC 2500. I was ready to throw it out the window. Until I played the same CD in my DAW. It played back sounding just as terrible. But it appeared the MPC 2500 really picked this sound out and made it more apparent.

Anyway....I wanted to test the sound of the 2500 using another CD. I used New Edition's Heart Break. I sampled 'Can You Stand the Rain' in the MPC 2500. I compared that with playing the same CD in my DAW. They both played back practically identical. I have to note that the MPC is connected to my digital mixer via analog inputs...and my DAW is connected to the same mixer via ADAT digital outs of my RME audio card.

Why do I point this out? No special reason except to give potential MPC users the 411 on the 2500 which just received a new OS update, that adds more features that the 1000 doesn't have.

3001 what makes you say the 2500 is built badly? I've never used a 60 or 3000 but my 2500 feels fine, no complaints on build from me.

well it's not built badly, but just as bad as the mpc1000:-D

Because it is not big, bulky, and heavy doesn't mean that it isn't well built. Besides the cheap pads, and the CF flash card reader....the MPC 1000 is a solid unit (still wouldn't buy one though...).

Once 3001 sells one of his dinosaurs...he will be picking up one of the newer MPCs....
