Well my MPC would have the following features:
1) an analogue modeling synth like the 5000
2) a drum synth with loads of parameters to tweak each sound
3) an X-Y-joystick freely assignable to parameters (default: modulation and pitch)
4) LEDs per pad that allow easy XOX-style beat programming alternatively to the MPC-style
5) optional CV-gate outupts to control old synths or modular systems
6) no hd-recorder
7) global program parameters (in contrast to the 5000
)
8 ) a physical effect send-return-loop to easily integrate effects pedals or other effects units (configurable as aux or insert)
9) linear sequencing additional to pattern style sequencing
10) you can do all operations with the sequencer running
11) you can choose if you want your ins and outs within the casing or as a breakoutbox for rack mounting (it is connected to the MPC via firewire cable)
12) several USB sockets to read data form memory sticks, iPods, harddrives and cd drive etc.
13) save your stuff as projects
14) super-easy computer style Q-Link MIDI-mapping --> turn something on your favorite gear, turn a Q-Link, finished
15) additional DSP cards with a variety of effects (open source, so that 3rd party companies can develop their shit)
16) built-in analogue summing --> you can assign your tracks to 8 busses, these are individually DA-converted, the now following summing circuit sums these 8 busses and sends them to the stereo out, it is digitally controlled via Q-Link, so that you can tweak volumes of each bus AFTER it has been converted!
