i also think 2xl sounds warmer than newer mpcs...you can pick up 2xl on cl for around 500 somewhat expanded.

I think 2xl feels more solid and quality than newer mpcs, but as you mentioned yourself screen dies. you gotta start looking for some loose change in your pockets cuz those things run what 2-300 ?

but if you want a classic machine I would not get 2000, I'd be looking at 60 or 3000 if anything.

I swear to god i can vouch for the mpc 2500's durability because my daughters mother didnt just drop my 2500 but she slammed it on the floor 2 or 3 times . It kinda goofed one of the knobs and the screen was stuck in the highest up position. I went in an made some adjustment to get the screen to move properly(no parts needed for that) plugged it in and started jamming later that night with no glitches other than the akai os ones i was already having issues with, that happened over a year ago still no problems. I am looking to buy a qlink rotary switch, that's still lop sided. As far sound quality when i tried the 2000xl side by side i didnt hear any difference using high end mackie monitor. Further more would hope someone looking for high quality sound would be running both through some good preamps with eq and effect processor, if not the sound quality is going to kinda suck anyway dont you agree

Keeping it real the hostility was because of another female that was in the picture,as far as what i did to get back at her the answer is nothing, even though i had always told myself i would kill her if she ever bothered my studio stuff.
I was in shock it was like i was watching a movie when happened. She damaged over $7000 worth of my equiptment, thank god i chose good quality products because most of them survived with just cosmetic flaws.(good luck with trading them in huh) :( :( :(

Psychoacoustics can be a dangerous thing.

thought so, too late now

I'm sorry but I was talking about what you (konc3pt) THINK you are hearing compared to what is really there.
It sounds warmer because that's what you want to believe, not because it is.

I doubt if you have ever had the 2 side by side to actually compare, just sounds like you repeating what you read on the net. ???

I think sound is subjective and we all perceive differently...I was just stating my opinion that 2xl to my ears sounds sort of muddy, more round as opposed to newer mpcs. maybe you read differently on the net, but that's my opinion.

I remember reading somewhere that the filters on the 2K an XL are different than the newer Akai, and actually the company was sold and the parts installed in the new generation MPC's are less of a quality and much cheaper made in china kind of@#$%. Not sure it's true but if it i so i guess the 2K has got to sound better right?
anybody knows something about this?

Anyone have any thoughts on the position of all the controls on the 2500 vs 2000? I'm a lefty and love having my left hand on the pads at all times while my right hand is on the controls flippin through menus and stuff.. I haven't used a 2000 in a few years, but with the controls set out like that to the left of the pads wouldn;t that be an easier flow for the righties?

just a thought
