Getting Started, buying an MPC. Need some help from ya!

yeah, you have a record player, records, the mpc (what ever model) ... and you can record your record samples into it and slice/manipulate/play them back how you like... after some practice you will start to find parts of songs with the drummer playing solo and you might even be able to record that to cut up... that way you can play your own drum beats using those sounds... think of michael jackson's song billie jean at the beginning .. you record 5 seconds of that and you have a kick and a snare to play in your own rhythm and style.

Thanks for such a good reply. I have checked some websites and im not 'feeling' none of em.. got any tips for a good 'gear' website? shipping to EU.

I think im going to spend some money on monitors too. Maybe a pair of KRK's. Nowadays im using some crappy senheiser headphones that a lobbyist could have instead. Making basslines is mission impossible with em. (And im not Tom Cruise)

Hm, havent thought about it really.. but when you say it.. the KRK's gives alot of bass. The bad thing i have only listened to the same setup to what you have. Except the subwoofer. And i did like the sound of it, but the sound was more 'heavy' than just clear.

In the city i live, we dont have any kind of music/gear store.(that cares for monitors, mpc's, keyboard, etc) So i wont be able to listen to any kind of monitors. So i guess i need to travel to some city next to me and listen. But its always good to have information with me when i go there.

KRK's will get the most bang for your buck without lashing out and buying expensive monitors, i use a pair of truths and dont reccommend them Id get some of them mackie monitors.......

I know heaps of people who use them (krk) for pre-production and they are fine, and compared to my berringher truths, the KRK;s actually lack a bottom end, but i only heard the 5'' not the 8'' cone. Top end is good in them though, and they sound pretty good.

About the stantons, they are great turntables but buy the bent arm (ST150) over the ST8-150 (straight arm) version, it will bug you out when you use your TT for cuts. They are identical but one has a bent tone arm.

Ebay is your bet for buying into EU, try picking stuff up from UK.

If i was you, i would get a simple computer setup going and try making some sampled beats before going and buying expensive gear.

what will happen is you'll buy a tonne of new stuff, and never learn any of it properly or to its full potential. Buy one piece at a time, if you really want to make beats buy a 1k, they are the cheapest, can be upgraded to basically a 2500 and will allow you to make beats. if you like it and want to go oldschool then upgrade / re-sell. RE-sale value of these units are pretty good so ive heard.......

Damn, sorry to hear you dont like your behringer setup. First off, i have planned going to nearest city to listen at the KRK's. I just spoke to a guy who runs the shop im going to visit. And he had a pair of KRK Rokit 6, so im gonna go over there with a USB with some albums (Illmatic, Liquid swords, 36th chambers, and some snippets with samples. Why so old cd's? Because i've heard them a thousands times.

And for the stantons. Should i mimic the bent arm, or just use em as they are. And im going to stick with buying the 1K for now. And just get used to using it. So i feel really comfortable, but the one thing i need is a better sound. As i said before im using cheap sennheiser headphones. And they work, thou i have used them on all beats i've made.

But i think starting of with MPC 1K + Some monitors would help me alot. And my budget works as i planned.
