Yes, basically that's I was doing when I had 2000 classic (Zip disks instead of floppies though) but, it was annoying to me.

yeah for sure... I can see that being real annoying for some people.. I got the boot disk working in my workflow pretty well cause I pop it in and boot the machine while looking for the project I am about to work on.. or getting a sticker on a new floppy disk.

The main issue IMO compared to the XL is that it takes longer to boot.

I actually like the 2000 a lot.. and I agree about the zone edit screen... I like sectioning off bits from a long sample better anyways.

Personally I never used it on XL, and I don't think I ever will.

I have used them both on the xl... and honestly.. it's faster to copy the sample to a floppy disk.. open it in a text editor... and editing the binary code manually by retyping the data from scratch.

The results are not that great for time stretching if you go beyond like 5%... the resampling is useless IMO when you have a card reader on the XL (IDE being the most important upgrade along with directory support) because you aren't in need of that type of tool to save space... plus, when you would likely rather sample into a proper 12 or 8 bit sample such as the s900/s950 or the mirage or eps... to get better low bitrate results.. know what I mean? yeah they are cool to have, but they aren't really that great IMO.

my biggest things I like about the xl over the classic are:
-folder support, and IDE (both go hand in hand)
-the jog wheel acceleration (you keep spinning the wheel at the same RPM and it picks up speed)
-easier to get into the motherboard area inside the mpc
-dedicated bank buttons
-track mutes screen... so you can mute/solo multiple tracks at the same time

Could you elaborate on this? I have no idea what you did with text editor (I think you meant hex editor, but still I don't have a cue what you mean.)

i was joking.. cause a digital sample is as they "all ones and zeros" .. right? well I was saying it takes so long to time stretch in the xl with very dated results therefore... you might as well retype those ones and zeros yourself cause you'll save time... in yeah, a hex or text editor.
