Whatever floats your boat in the end people make music. But it is important for the individual user to find what they are comfortable with.

Lol that's something I won't do. It looks cool as hell, but not my thing lol.

I really appreciate everyone's opinions. Debates are always good but I won't be able to join the debate until I get the REN lol. I feel like my thing is like a lot of people's, the sequencing on the Maschine just doesn't do it for me. The REN just worked for me for the simple thing I did. I have another question now. I've read about all the bugs that people experience and all the features people want, with all these supposed problems and things missing is the REN really worth it?

As long as development continues (so far so good) then yea it's worth it. And I love maschine, old mpcs, software.. Lots of dif stuff. The ren isn't quite "there" yet but it's dope, no doubt

Oh and "worth it" to me , for sure.

Not that I've used mine since u got the ren lol :)

Lmao nauh I think I'm gonna get a little more than 100. The person that's supposedly buying it from me is gonna give me 3. I'll probably buy some monitors with that money lol. I heard that browsing for sounds inside of it is real unorganized. Any work arounds?

My question is the exact opposite... Should I keep the Ren?

I just bought a Maschine MK2 (because the Ren imo wasn't living up to it's full potential. Early days I know!) and am now in the process of comparing the 2...

Both have strengths but for my particular workflow, the MK2's in the lead. Still early tho.. might run into a complete deal breaker down the line! :Sigh:

I agree that with the Ren, laying down the foundation of a beat couldn't be easier. However, imo, from that point on is where the trouble is.. Detailed editing, mixing and arranging of the beat isn't as accomplished imo. To me at least, the Maschine MK2 wins in this respect.

Funny... I was all about the Ren not too long ago... and now I'm having some of my posts deleted just because I've 'discovered' the competition..
I shall be choosing my words carefully from now on and minimize my use of the 'M' word...

The Ren is flawed. If you can live with those flaws, I guess it's the perfect machine!

Thanks for the honest review. I'm not a Maschine hater, I believe it's a good thing for people that can use it the way it was meant to be used. To me the REN just seemed easier when I sat down with it. And yea I think I can live with the flaws to an extent. As long as I can drop a sample in, chop it up and throw drums over it I'm good. Or if I can do a midi sequence from a keyboard and then put drums on it that's all I really want to do. And I think the REN will be what I need to do that.

Keep in mind that NI is probably cooking up something good for their next major update which will make Akai either match it or surpass it so to be honest I think you'd be happy with either one (long term) so just ask yourself which one works better with how you make music.

Ren hardware and interface are better than maschine IMO, but that's also matter of preference. However price n features is what makes maschine much more appealing at this point

I'm still thinking of leaning twoard the ren. I just picked up my maschine and made the same sequence i made in the ren yesterday and it came together so much easier on the MPC. I'm going to go back to guitar center tomorrow and make another track but i think my mind is pretty much made up.
