Do you wish you had waited for a 2500 rather than buying a 1000?

Will never have what?

You don't even know if the 1k will have it yet!

hey chill man

there's no need to be jealous... :D

(just joking)

more seriously, the link i posted there shows that a guy has (apparently) managed to make an OS for the 1000, which gives the same exact functions as the 2500, plus some others that the 2500 doesn't have yet . the beta version of this os is supposed to be out on sunday... we'll see

anyways, if this OS proves to be working,

we might change the thread title to " How many 2500 owners wish they had waited and gotten a 1000? "

even though the 1000 will never have 8 outs, 2more knobs and extra midi outs, it would become really hard to justify the price of the 2500...

No autochromatic or MTC yet. Those are two features I'd like to see introduced on the 1000. Then I probably wouldn't need a 2500. I'm not at a stage where I really need the 8 outs. The bigger pads feel nice, but I could do without.

This os will (if it is true of course) provide "equality" (that's the term used by the guy) to te MPC 2500 (in terms of software of course), and we are told to refer to the 2500 manual for how to use these functions....

That's what written (it was translated in the 1000 forum by a pro japanese translator).

I know what it says, I translated it. :D

It says it will have the same functions as the MPC2500 version 1.1. The latest version of the mpc2500 is version 1.21.

 excuse me!

lol

my bad, i thought version 1.1 already had MTC

however, if this OS3 thing is true, its is likely that we will have "equality" to the 2500 v1.21 too

I hope so. I'm going to email the guy and ask him if he ever puts up any way to contact him on his site. He should put up contact info because he's looking for reports on bugs.

Don't get too excited yet. It's best to wait and see what's up rather than get disappointed later.

It would be funny if he were one of the original Akai programmers, but more likely than not he's just some really smart guy that likes to hack electronics and loves his MPC.

Im not getting excited at all, and actually i dont really care if my mpc ever gets grid editing or MTC, i do everything i want with it, this OS would only be bonus... even if track mutes and direct record are def nice!

Depends on your needs i suppose. The 1000 got a major revamp. What's tp say the 2500 wont get the same at a later date.

I definitely dont regret getting mine plus it was only £200 more than a 1000.

I hope this does come out for the 1k though, no skin off my nose as i know why i wanted the 2500 but it's cool to see the 1k catching up.
