I was just thinking the same exact thing while reading your post.
I am curious / gear lusting about the MV-8800 also, of which I know you use also. I just scored a mint VS2400CD which I am gonna replace my Tascam 2488 with. So, of course the MV has come up.
yeah, well the thing is... I like bouncing from gear to gear... I make music differently sometimes that way. I only ever sold one mpc which I regretted which was the 2000xl... but I came up on a classic 2000 which was a gamble. The seller didn't have the boot disk so he thought there was something wrong with it. I payed $250 including shipping for it... anyways, I got it because I saw it had the 8 outputs so I figured worse comes to worse I could strip the machine and make my money back if not break a profit.
anyways so the machine comes in... I had an eb16 laying around I took from my XL before letting it go... I figured I would pop that in the classic if it worked... well I made a boot disk and powered her on... the thing is in amazing shape, it works perfect... screen is mint, the thing already had the eb16 in it so now I have 2... plus everything works. My guess is that they couldn't get the thing booted up without the disk so it was left in a box for years. there aint even any normal usage dirt on the jog wheel or pads.
still, one day I will have to bite the bullet and get a 3000... I already have a 60 which I always use but it has the old OS... so instead of paying several hundred on upgrading that I might as well grab a 3000 since the newest 60 OS is supposed to give it 3000 style features.
It's that machine I always would have liked having, but I never find one in budget when I am in the market for one...
