Seems to me your saying hardware doesn't have a market anymore. And further saying a hardware unit that can function with computer software wouldn't have a market? am I right my friend ?

Hmmmmm.... See its this consumer that Akai..im sorry Numark loves. Because they can cheaply build and make whatever they want. Slap an akai "mpc" sticker on the product. Put a few flashing lights on the thing and sell it for outter space prices, so high you need a space ship to go buy it and people go nuts for it.. But the price decrease lets me know. Akai has millions of ren's sitting on there shelves. And retailers arent moving the units either.

Ebay tells me people still want a hardware unit and DONT WANT A REN.. I'll say that again.. EBAY tells me people still want hardware units and DONT WANT A NEWLY BUILT IDEA CALLED THE REN.

Akai needs to work for there core market. HARDWARE heads, and make there ideas work with DAW's and they will make money ! I hope they listen to this. if not. Then I hope somebody from Roland, or some other company takes this idea and runs with it.

FOR ME......and im not speaking for everyone. But the MPC REN was a smack in the face. It was im sorry. The only people who will defend the ren are people who paid full price for a ren and have grown to love there toy. It still does not justify the build and other faulty elements of the idea. Even if they fix. it still sounds like crap, no character.

Furthermore. Nobody wants to mix down there product in REN software? At least the hundreds of producers and engineers I work with. So why not make a hardware unit that works with todays most popular software and vst's ? You get the best of both worlds and will work in both enviorments.

THE NEW MPC SHOULD BE WHAT??????? help me out... but you had better sell your ren now. its going bye bye. sorry

My setup is 1 mpc ren, 4 hardware analog synthesizers, 3 didital hardware synthesizers, 1 VA hardware, 1 VST (diva), and plugins for effects, audio and mastering (izotope alloy2 and ozone5).

You really think i'm against hardware ?

If you are sequencing all that beautiful hardware into the REN. making the character of those synths COLD and dead. Then yes ! its like these little kids who buy an mpc and go straight stereo in into the computer ??????? lol.. they miss the point of the hardware. It has its own sound and character..

Go back and read the beginning of this thread. WHO WOULDN'T WANT AN MPC HARDWARE UNIT CAPABLE OF THIS? are you serious.

-BATCH EXPORT TO THUMB DRIVE? ARE YOU SERIOUS? SOLD
-BATCH EXPORT TO DESKTOP ? ARE YOU SERIOUS ? SOLD

-ONE USB CORD TO COMPUTER AND THE UNIT FUNCTIONS WITH CUBASE, PRO TOOLS, LOGIC.SOLD

- THE ABILITY TO RECORD AND SEQUENCE AUDIO/MIDI DATA FROM YOUR PC INTO THE MPC ? YOU MEAN I CAN RECORD AND SEQUENCE A NATIVE INSTRUMENTS PIANO PATCH RIGHT INTO THE MPC CONTROLLING IT WITH MY MIDI KEYBOARD? YES! SOLD !!!!

HOW IS ANY OF THIS OLD SCHOOL? Countless people had buyers remorse over the ren. If they took some time and developed something like this. Not only would it set the bar for other vendors. But these units would fly off the shelf. why ? Because essentially your getting a REAL MPC that has the ability to compete, function and thrive in todays modern market.

BUT BONUS BONUS,, Its a real mpc, its hardware, it sounds full and thick and with life. Its built well, with large real mpc pads like on the 5000. AND still works on the computer for those who want to be glued infront of a pc.

WIN WIN for us all. SO AKAI LET US KNOW WHEN YOUR IN THE DEVELOPMENT STAGES :) heehehe

Already answered to that. Read my first pst in this thread.

I sequence my hardware synths as midi with the Ren. Their outputs are going into an analog console. The audio recording is processed into a hardware recorder. I bounce it in the DAW for mixing and mastering.

1) YOU CANNOT RECORD AS AUDIO INTO THE MPC SOFTWARE SO NOTHING IS DIGITALIZED AT THIS POINT.

2) I CAN USE CAPS TOO.

Enough time wasted, you're alternating pure non-sense or stating the obvious (like : "people who want the Ren to still be supported are people who bought it" lmfao! Thx captain obvious!)

I repeat my message before i'm off :

Yes you can request a new MPC 6000 standalone but you should never ask akai to dump what they're onto at the moment and you should never say "we" like you're the universal voice of every akai product users.

This is all in good fun and respectful debate. I am by far the most non aggressive person you'd ever meet. I want peoples feedback .

oh... and talking to some of the " well known" producers that they used to promote the ren..behind closed doors. Most all laugh....they know the truth. They all want what ive described.... but hey whatever gets a check and keeps the lights on I guess.

Have you ever been in a studio and some kid comes in with there song tracked out on a thumb drive and the engineer loads it up. And the kid says..." can you put like an mpc effect on the drums" lol !!!!! what ???

This reason is why they put a "vintage mode" on the ren. why not just make another flagship hardware product that SOUNDS GOOD and also Functions in computer land if the user should choose.

let me ask? You like the renniassance ? what software did you use before this ?

If they could build all the functions ive described into something like the 5000 with the built in synth and all. mannnnn akai/numark would be rich !

We are in a microwave age. So im guessing you will win this battle and they will create a ren II

Anyone have a 5000 they want to sell me? heheeh :smoker:

He can ask Akai to dump whatever the hell he wants!

He can say "we" in reference to a universal voice of every MPC head who wants a new hardware MPC model as much as he wants as well.

LOL !!!!!!!

when he got down to the ren. I heard his fingers bangin on the pads more then I heard the drums banging coming outta the speakers. something is missing..

To be clear minidx im speaking for us hardware heads who want another hardware unit only this time it can function with DAWs. Just doesnt compromise quality thats all im saying my friend.

Man.. I couldn't agree more with the original post. No need for akai to stop supporting ren software though. It just hasn't lived up to my expectations yet. I definitely have some dope features and the fact that you can use vsts etc etc.. But figure out a way to implement that to a hardware mpc. I'm neither a hardware or software guy. I use both. I'm pretty lazy and not the typical tech geek, so I prefer the simplicity of software and not having to deal with syncing, tracking out, midi etc, but I love the sound and feel of working with hardware.

I just feel the ren doesn't fit in with either. It's "software" but is way behind logic and other software and it doesn't integrate well with logic at all. Still have to track out sh**, can't use use logic to arrange my different parts. (Never liked to arrange in the MP. Way to tedious compared to logic). So I agree. Go back to hardware and implement all the best features from the different mpcs.

Worked with my mpc1000, jjos2xl for the first time in a while and realized how much nicer that is to work with compared to the ren. I guess the downside with a completely new hardware mpc would be the price.

The Yamaha xm49 sounds dope. Gonna have to look into that. Can you explain a little more how it integrates with daws? I googled it but didn't find exactly what I was looking for. For example if I sequence it from logic and manipulate the sound in the mx49, what's the process of getting the audio into logic?

Sorry for changing the topic a little..,

Cafnyc,

See thats the thing. By my post. It may sound like im a straight hardware head. But im not. I use both. more software than hardware these days. I was excited when the ren came out. But after researching it it just didnt live up to the standards. And the software doesnt either.

Anyhow the yamaha mx 49 is incredible. It really is. For the price. It serves its point in my set up. I can get a few classic motif sounds in my productions at the fraction of the cost. You literally turn it on . set a Audio track in your daw and start recording. If you set a midi track. You can of course edit, change sounds ect ect. I'll try to find some links online and send them to you. That way you can see it in action. But for $400. Its a steal. Its not heavy and bulk enough to be your traveling keyboard for heavy players in bands. But for the studio and getting some full piano , string synth patches in your production to spice up vst sounds. It serves its purpose for me.

The trick is that the keyboard actually has its own sound card/interface in the keyboard. Thats how the hardware itself works with pc's. You can use it stand alone or with DAW. It has to be one of the greatest features ever. SO many people are sleeping on it.

Thanks!

THis looks great because Im looking for a keyboard to replace my asr 10 that takes too much space, and my mpk49 which is just a horrible product (The keys and pads are the worst. I kind of like the buttons and knobs dor automation though).

Where did you find it for 400 though? Im only seeing $500.

My only concern.. How do sounds hold up in 2013?

C.
