The Ren is about making music..

That said understand your tools you have for making music the less problems you have making music.. Making music is a beautiful and wonderful thing and with today's technology we have great ease of composing, mixing, arranging, and mastering all in a home setup. I wrote these posts and videos only to help fellow producers, djs, and musicians to make music with the tools on hand mainly within a software studio setup.

GOLDEN RULE in software of any kind

COMPOSE IN MIDI, MIXING IN AUDIO.

This statement here is too general and can only add to more confusion...as you can Compose in MIDI or Audio.....and Mix with MIDI and Audio.

Real instruments are in most cases recorded as audio. If you are composing you real instruments or don't want to record your keyboard parts as MIDI...you record them directly as audio tracks in a DAW. Or you can sample them with your Ren, chop them up (or not) and sequence them.

VST and MPC Program tracks are MIDI sequenced audio apps. You can apply effects to these tracks and mix down into individual or stereo master audio files. It is not mandatory that you must mix these instruments inside of a 3rd party DAW. It is only an option. And like stated above, you can also still use the individual or stereo audio files with the Ren.

This. When you're putting your final touches to to your tune, the last thing you need is some plugin crashing or acting weirdly. Bounce all your tracks to audio and save a copy of the project without any plugins. Audio cements your ideas and composition so that you can be sure it sounds exactly the same every time you loop over it and can focus on getting the best sound out of it.

Y'all two obviously need to just fight it out or get married n keep this bs in the bedroom. Sorry but I just wasted time reading y'all's extraneous banter. 20 min later n I still can't figure out why inconsistent midi lag n inability for any soft drum maschine/ren to just plain work, still makes me wanna chuck computer sequencing n revert to a dedicated hardware sequencer. Slave it if you wanna, it still wont synch right. Seems like a lotta that going around w no signs of improvement. Why in this day in age is something so rudimentary n fundamental still an issue? No sequencers OR ppl wanna just agree to keep the same time :P We need to ease back a bit to get along n help our equipment to the same.

Continued 'progress' upon a flawed foundation, isn't.

Unless you're just trying to make a sale ;)

Sorry.

You might have problems in your setup that cause lagging hence you can't sequence or program your drum machines but don't assume that everybody is you! Sorry! Setting up the latency isn't to difficult and setting up to sync is basic midi 101 and software drum machines as plugins is a no brainer.

But is seems you are confused the thread is about programming software instruments either with a drum machine or a daw then recording to stereo tracks. If you need info on how to sync midi check the getting started forum.

Yeh, sorry about that. I just wanted my 20 min back. ;) I know I'll never fix the ego driven nature of open forums but it does satisfy to offend resident dominating hematochizic personalities who assume that all forum newbs couldn't possibly know anything. Forgive the elementary position which justifies my retort but your response seems a lil colonoscopentic.

Anywho...

Because you say so, I now believe consistent lag differential IS plausibly possible w modern consumer available computer systems, and without designing a fully bootable DAW in order to eliminate nearly infinite process timing affective variables. No, the constant fluctuating background process load involved in concurrently running windows or osx would never affect your synchrony. Please, SELL your old news deticated hardware sequencers n drum machines to buy more SOLID WORKING soft ones. They're really not worth much now that something new came out, right?

If you don't hear the difference, maybe you just aren't listening closely enough.

Additionally, I find your topic tiresomely pedantic. Good day to you, señior.

Just because some ignorant clown that admitting couldn't make a beat in logic, picked up a 4k in 4 months ago and then he didn't even know how to sync his 4k too his DAW to record out his audio, I don't think so. I dont care his he sat by his computer with his dictionary to type out his nonsence that wasn't even remotely connected with the thread.

This isn't a thread about which is better working with hardware or software cuz it is strange two of my 4k fellows are commenting like they got to defend their hardware. I have no intend of selling mine either like a lot of us from the 4k forum getting a studio or Ren as part of our technology progression.

This is a thread about using a hardware mindset when recording with software instruments in the box. And how important it is to convert your midi tracks to Audio to lessen the strain on your CPU. A Daw helps to do that with non destructive audio regions. If an you can't understand that good luck with preventing crashes in the box with unfrozen midi tracks with software instruments galore.

If this is just some sorry excuse to attack the Ren and their users you two need to grow the fck up. No one said anything about selling hardware. Grown men worried about what others are using is childish and unmanly.
