local shop here in town for $400. for the 49key version. But ebay has them as well for that price. The sounds are the same sound engine/library of the motif.

I use this board to get away from my piano and /strings sounds with vsts sometimes. Its just a nice piece to have in the studio. A go to for nice piano sounds, strings when needed.

Y'all can move over to my new thread on the MPC 7000. You can request all the features that you felt were missing in the 6000 or poorly implemented.

Seriously though, I would love to see a new MPC standalone.

I would HATE to see REN development dropped since I bought one.

I think it's in AKAI's interest to not make end all be all MPC's as people keep on buying the next one, and when it ain't it, they buy the next one. How many MPC 3000-4000 users never bought another MPC because it was so dope?

Sometimes I think our dream MPC (which would cost $3000) only sounds good to us. Not enough people would buy it. The market has changed, money is tight... DAWS are cheap...

I would HATE to see REN development stopped... I repeat.. It would be way more disastrous to those of us who bought it then AKAI discontinuing hardware.... We will still rely on AKAI making drivers for Windows 9 .. OS17.. whatever... How s###ty would it be to try to hunt down pc's running Windows 7 in 10 years just so you could work on the REN in ten years?

Forgot to mention it has DAW integration like the Yamaha MX too.... And Thunderbolt and USB3 ....... and a flip out cup holder.

Continue the updates and development with the REN

Create 100-500 of these hardware units. And then treat the rest of the sales structure special order only meaning custom built. That way price point will only mean something to those who really want it and deem such unit worth it. similar to the neko keyboard units that went around. Only Id suggest all akai users get a unit of this nature. It benefits both worlds.

If those who want the hardware unit want one and think its worth it. Then we will have to place a special order. That way akai doesnt go bankrupt over productions cost, customer and tech support will be better. Ren customers will still be happy. And customers of this unit can cherry pick certain features. Hardware space ( 1TB -5TB), color way, ect ect.

ITs the motif bank... Imo yamaha's programming ability and resources are very good for your bread and butter sounds...
I use to use kontakt and soft sam intruments but found i was having to adjust buffer sizes when i started stacking instruments... Becuase i like to play in my stuff rather than program/step sequence in...

The Pattern Sequencer in the mox stuff is kinda mpcish... Except you only have a total of 16 patterns/sequences to mess with... You then arrange the patterns in pattern chain mode (much like song mode in mpc) You can record this live....

This is basically a motif with flash memory for $1200
Granted you have to buy the optional 1gb upgrade.. But still $1200 is a very good price for what you actually get...(sequencer/soundmodule/midicontroller/audiointerface with midi and audio via usb/vcm effects)

What most people forget is that a ren will cost 999 plus a computer... (apple mac pro)=1300 = $2300 Plus some basic knowledge computer skills..

In saying all this i think they should stand by their software, and they could keep supporting it.. They just need to make sure all their new and legacy hardware can support the software...

The next mpc should be a flagship model that can be standalone... I dont think they need to design new controllers(keep manufacturing the studio and ren) ... With improvements in the software...

Or...Renaissance $750 + cheap desktop PC $750 = $1500.

MPC3000 was about $4000 when released.

How about just do the mp 3000 over with, jj's input for the os, like os 3 & os 2xl, and maybe a beefed up free os for the cats who like to keep it simple, same build design, stand alone of course, your choice of os upon start up, I guess you guys can give input for storage options.

If they built it to LAST. With such said features. continuous upgrades to a certain extent. Built well, sounds great. Storage space. Very large full color LCD screen. I would pay $2,000- $2,500 No problem.

It would be my the center of my entire studio and I wouldnt be looking to upgrade to a new machine for years to come.

Also. If the ren was suppose to be the newest flag ship unit. and the price point was about $1,300 retail. This new hardware unit should only be $2000, 2,500 at the MOST and thats pushing it. imo

The ren is suppose to be more advanced and modern then the mpc3000's and cost less.

Meaning they could make this new hardware unit with a similar price point. And i can BET once people saw how it intergrates with comptuers. They'd be selling there ren's to buy it. SO sales would do ALOT better then the rens sales. Just my opinion.

Are many others willing to pay $2.5k though, when the Renaissance is selling at $750, the Maschine Studio starting off at $999 being the main competition, and most new producers being into software based production now days.

Just not sure there is the market for it anymore, or if Akai would see enough of a viable market to go ahead with it.

Also not sure if it could sell for $2-2.5k, based on it coming out at $1400 just for the controller, as there is a whole lot more stuff and things required inside the box to be a hardware MPC.

If there were user replacement circuit boards for the MPC2500. So the USB could be swapped out for USB 2 or 3. The CPU board swapped to give addition features such as Direct to Disk recording if needed, USB audio interface feature and DAW integration. Perhaps even stick a Wifi interface in there too. And a new & robust O.S. to bring it all together. There would be tens of thousands of ppl buying the conversion kits.

Akai could even build a new MPC using the 2500 templates & tooling, just sticking in a couple of new boards and decent tact switches. It'd be less expensive & as sick-as-chips (or fries for your colonial types).

Good for the environment too. Recycle and Re-use, extending the life of a product - Akai could get stacks of eco-brownie points, perhaps even start a new eco-trend. It'd get them a big spot on Treehugger.com for sure. (Green Eco/Recycle Icon goes here)

Good points m8. Great points. I think in todays age. They could build this thing and profit at the $2,500 market. But as I also stated The market would be for the custom built market sort of like the Neko , meko keyboards.

But If some were willing to pay $1,300 for the ren....then anything is possible. People still want a hardware mpc. People settled for the Ren. IMO

Also a product of such could be sold in tiers to get it to a decent entry level price point. Less hard drive space, ect ect.. could make it cheaper. But the concept is marketable in my eyes.

I think with today's technology you can have a new MPC in the $999 range. Look at celphones. $700 for a laptop in the palm of your hand. You can edit videos, download beatmaking apps, video games, loads of music and mp3s. It would be super cool if an MPC can be built like that. It can be small like the 500, charge up the battery, download sample paks from sites directly into the MPC, download the latest OS, upload your latest creation to soundcloud or youtube, all while remaining true to the hardware of the legacy.

Akai missed out on that game changer.
