The MPC 1000 is hidden in the pic of the Last Supper and has the mark of the beast!

M=8th letter of the alphabet
P=16th letter of the alphabet
C=3rd letter of the alphabet

Add these numbers and you get 27. Multiply that by 1000 (as in MPC 1000 :wink: ) and divide that by 40.540540540540540540540540540541000 and you get 666 :shock:

What's better, Tech 1200 or a PDX? I want a full report on my workstation by the crack of noon.

things are about to change with the 3.0 for the 1ooo

this is rediculous
the grid edit is gnarly
and now it does some things that the 2500 can't do

:wink: this turns the tables a little bit don't it...

regarding the pads - i fixed mine with contact cement after trying several different ways of fixing em. i trialed and errored a couple methods and have finally found a good one. the contact cement sticks.

i will someday offer a pad fixing service. the fixed 1000 pads are perfect - they're more sensitive than the mpd pads. one thing we should note is that most people who use 1ks don't adjust their pad sensitivity (which is an option) they just kinda let that chill. your different fingers don't hit the different pads at the same velocity, so you gotta adjust accordingly.

that being said i'd use my 1k pads w/ Full Velocity OFF in live use and feel fine. it takes about 2 hours to fix the 1k pads, and costs maybe 10 bucks for contact cement...it's not a ballsy thing to do, either. just grow a pair and get in there...but do your homework.

hey antonym, thanks for replying my other thread.

regarding this 3.0 OS, i been a bit outta the loop.
will it be solid and offered from Akai, or only from the 3rd party Japanese site?
also, does one need a specific OS in order to get to this 3.0?

it will NOT be offered from akai, so it WILL be solid
and i think you can go from any os to the 3.0

How logical is that statement :roll:

jahrome can you name me 1 mpc os that has been released in the last 4 years that has an os that doesn't need a can of raid, or at least a flyswatter?

That's easy...the MPC 200XLs 1.2 Operating System.

You are foolish to believe this 3rd Party OS (you are hyping up in the forums) will not have any bugs.

no. it has bugs, as betas typically do.
but i think it says somethign that the beta is already less buggy than os 2.1, having taken care of the saving issues shared by the 2500 and 1000.

and i meant os's for machines designed in the last 4 years, as the 2000 and xl are comparatively rock solid.

The beta is less buggy? As verified by who?

I am pissed at Akai for their quality control..but at least they are actually working on the 2500s OS. There have been 3 this year and more is expected.

as verified by several testing members in the 1k forums, and myself.

not that 2.1 was overwhelmingly buggy, but here and there we had issues. esp with saving/corruption of files in the hd over time. i think you know what i'm talking about, i've heard rumors of similar things happening to the 2500.

as for bugs in 3.0, they're all fairly small - apparently one dude had his freeze up but that hasn't happened to me yet. one i've noticed is a strange issue with assigning the sample to a pad, very difficult to explain but it's nothing huge.

mostly it's small stuff. we got transient chopping in 3.0, but the problem is it seems to have replaced the option to zone equal sized portions. for now. not really a bug, but more of something that should be an option. the transient detection is pretty great, too - and it seems that it doesn't roll off the beginning and end of the sample as the original slice function did in 2.1.

so far, there have been no saving issues, which was my biggest concern before. the new folder bug doesn't seem to be a problem.

there was a midi sync issue - it neither slaved nor mastered. the jj released an updated beta where the mpc would be a slave to outboard gear, but we still can't be the master. it'll come soon.

it's still rough around the edges, but workable, and incredibly promising. the layout is exactly the same as the old version - there are just more options where previously there were none. essentially it seems that he didn't start from the ground up but rather took preexisting code and altered/added to it. the save/load function is much better now graphically, as well.

if you get a chance you should take the os into guitar center and throw it on the 1000 to take a look at it. confuse the gc people :wink:

basically, it's better than other betas i've tested for other pc basde programs. akai is def gonna fix the 2500 os, no doubt. to leave you hanging would be suicide. and when they do i bet the jj will grab it and throw in some spices. even if not, it will be dope.

check this out - 3.0 lets us select/change all the parameters of a program - like tune, volume, filter, etc. here, check this picture out and see if it can explain itself - this is something 2500/1000 users have been begging akai for.

thats decent. but that screen does freeze. also i swear it doesnt fully work properly yet, sometimes when u change it to mono from poly, it still stays as poly. could b imagining it...but on the normal program window, this is accurate. i think there r a lots of bugs. still impressive. once they're ironed out, then it'll b something special. the layout of the menus (particularly save and load) is amazing. so easy and efficient. but its a long way from complete in my opinion
