Greetings fellas.
I own maxed out MPC1000 and I really enjoy it. I'm rocking on it for about three months and this is my 1st MPC, even 1st instrument I play on and 1st hardware. Buying this MPC was caused by financiall issues and my lack of knowledge about it. Before that I had MPC500 for about three days but it looks like a toy to me now. I think it is true what peeps say around here: if you don't own one you don't know. I've improved on some technicall issues and I'm still learning it and it seems to me that MPC1000 is not that good for me. Why is it? For me the biggest problem is that it sounds a little metallic. Some of people here says that it's not important and if you won't rock with MPC1000 you won't be good on any other MPC. It is the biggest bullshit I've ever heard 'cus for me it's all about the sound, it's all about how it sounds. My friend own 2kxl so from now on I have opportunity to compare this 2. MPC2kxl sounds warmer but it lacks what I would need to feel comfortable (mostly I think it would be memory, then comunication beetween computer and MPC). So to get to the point I feel that MPC4000 would be the best match for me. I've been looking around for a while now and it seems that it's the most advenced MPC ever. I don't know how it sounds so if someone could give me some dry examples I would be gratefull. Many users appriciate simplicity of older MPCs but I'm type of fast learning and I think I could make some use of all these features it has. Newest MPC5000 recieved some negative feedback and I think I wouldn't really need this synthezizer and I heard it has some odd bugs. For that price??!! No, thanks. For me this bugs should be resolved but it seems like Akai support is very bad. JJ OS really showed 'em how to put things down. So let's look a little deeper:
MPC60/3000 - neat sound, biggest adventage of this, has nice past and many users thinks it really rocks but it lacks all of this new technical things that make you feel like a better man
MPC2000/xl - nearly same, warm sound, simple in usage but on the other hand it lacks technical gadgets
MPC500 - toy for me, no thanks
MPC1000 - actually got this one, everything is nice. You make like WHOA!!! It has this, it has that but sounds mettalic.
MPC5000 - IMO it's not worth that price and it's revieved in that way that make you really not interested in it. Don't wan't that one.
MPC4000 - finally. I feel like I would benefit it most. Has some nice features that other don't. When I look on it it makes me think: I'm gonna merry her. I like this little larger screen 2
I've analyzed it based on my own knowledge, this forum and some articles. Correct me if I'm wrong and tell me is it worth to do it how I think. I can't afford to buy MPC4000 without selling my MPC1000 so it's little gamble. My plan is to sell this fully maxed MPC1000 and if its possible I would add my samples collections so I could make a couple of dollars on it. A lot of nice samples and breaks I just don't know if law will allow it. So to sum it up. What price would be atrractive? Is this worth to exchange, 'cus I really think it is. Give your opinions and help me.
