Trade mpc 4000 for 3000

I'm thinking about trading the mp 4k for a 3k

I love the 4k its my first mpc, and i dont want to trade it up because the 4k doesnt give me great beats, you know like a gearslut would do.

You make the best out of your equipment and the 4k sounds big so if you cant do shit that your prob
But the 3k seems interesting as im working with the mpc to get the mpc sound.

Everybody says the 3k got a sound of its own, and that you have to try it to see it. Also it got a different groove than the 4k.

The 4k shuffle sequencing and everything really sounds different than software I now believe the hype, which makes me think it must be true about the 3k too.

The only thing about the 3k is that, you cant load wav, no hard drive, no usb backup, which is great about the 4k.

I awlays take a long time building a few tracks, so speed is not an issue for me, I dont mind sampling everything.

People say it's build like a tank, more solid than any other mpcs, so about the reliabiltiy, is it good?

I could sell the 4k the same price as a would get a 3k.

I've only got a few beats in the 4k, and only one I want to keep, it would be easy to reconstruct it in the 3k as it's only wav loops I created.

So any advices guys? I'm looking for warm sound, that westcoast sound especially.

I'm sure there's a bunch of folks that have a 3k as their one and only mpc that wouldn't mind doing a even swap with you.

4k > 3k

I'm a little worried about the memory though, cuz I like to have a lot of elements in my songs, so I'm good with the 4k.

See a basic beat in the 4k use 10mb right now. It doesnt leave me a lot of room to add new sounds.

32 mb is the limit on the 3k right?

With the MPC 3000 you will loose

If your OK with loosing all that then DO IT..

Just keep in mind that the 3000 maybe a better build quality but its older as well
and parts break/ware out. From what I hear replacement parts for the 3k are no longer
being made.

I can not speak on the warmth/3k sound/different feel /groove/because I have never used the 3k but I'm sure its a nice mp a lot of folks love em!

Yeah, I was trying to make this obvious when I mentioned the 4k was greater than the 3k when it comes to technology.

For me 32MB wouldn't be that big problem. There are still people who produce on MPC60 1.5MB.
To be honest no one will make decision for you. Analize what you wan't to do and see what MPC fits you better. Every MPC differs in sound. Personally I wouldn't want to lose all this features that makes my work more cofortable, so I'm glad that there is MPC 4K .
Also I think starting straight from MPC4000 is hard, but working on it is addictive. The more you do the more you wanna do.

Stick to your MPC, especially in this case. I´ve been there (and not only one time)

Get yourself a nice Amp/EQ/Effect etc. hook it up between the 4000 and the sample source and you got your warm sound.

In 10 years everybody is going to trade their MPC 9000's for a MPC 4000 cause it`s got a "magic vibe" or something.

A couple of years ago everyone was shittin' on the 2000/2000XL and cats are calling em Classics now.

BUT, it might give a color, but it's gonna be different than the sound a 3k can give.

it's not so serious... i'd keep what you have.

don't think that those machines have something magical about them just because dilla used it, or so and so used it. the important thing is, you're already vested in the 4k... you've already gotten a feel for it and you already know your way around the machine.

i'd focus on mastering the 4k and then someday get a 3000 on the side out of curiosity. if you want that 'swing' just work on your timing on the 4k. if you want that gritty sound, get an older rack sampler.

This was no bullshit. The mpc 4k in fact is a beast, it's big, solid, beautiful to look at.

To me, it's the best looking mpc ever.

I'll keep it if I can't find a deal. I've did hits with reason, cubase, fl studio, motif, whatever...

It does not matter. But since I've only had the 4k for a few weeks, I just messed around with it,
it's not like if I had it since a few years, there is still time to master a new machine
