They should have release a true MPC
They should have released an updated MPC2.5, added the screen of the mpc 5k along with its workflow improvement, skip the HDR and the VA synth and focused on the sound and feel,..
Higher quality converters and output stages, added 24/96k support (with full 64voice architecture) add two adat's with 24/96k support (or fire wire, usb2) and a computer editor that allows editing of sequences and supports vst though the adat/firewire/usb2.. put the money into a high quality FX engine (working with 3rd party to get it right; lexicon, T.c electronics, Waves (a comp on a pro level, if you can't do it), add a separate dynamic engine , and set up a channel strip per pad (EQ with master mix fx processor (4 buses to low, med, large reverb's send + a master delay independent from the main FX engine (and yes again pro quality/fully editable..
create dedicated hardware short cuts for these on the UI along with other key element functions/buttons for things like; re-sample, track mute/solo, swing (hell there should be a whole section dedicated to swing on the top panel! I mean Kontack was able to bring out more MPC essentials on their control surface in their first try!! .. Roland figured out pad hold first time around the 10 year old asr-x had the brilliantly clever scratch pad/re-sampling system … why cant you do it right!!
The sampling side of the 5k would have been fine with its cycling mode (which is a concept / feature taken from the 4000, yes the 4k can do this if you program it to do so!) and use some of the smarter screen layouts of the sampler from the 4k (things like seeing visual reputation of filter and amp envelop on the same page is a no brainier!!).. why!?
but in most cases and especially for a normal mpc user the sampling engine along with cycle mode is quite satisfactory (cycle mode being somewhat of a limited replacement for a mod matrix.. later add the full blow sampler of the 4k and rightfully call it the mpc5000..
A MPC is a MPC its is a midi/music production center and does it superbly (many have copied but failed you might say there’s none on par with the MPC,.. but it does not hold its own next to real synth’s and real Hdr’s/DAW basically >Va’s & HDR in an mpc ..I mean what is next> Presets!!! That’s just moving too far from the MPC novelty, which has always been about making your own, be it sampling from vinyl or just banging two dildos together to make a sound .. Who cares how you make it, the point is its original, its you!
If you think the MPC should be more of a wav loader with a bunch of features to do everything for you, then Kontack maschine has you beat in every way,
Marketing wise
Being able to use the word “3000” in your brand name rather than running after the word “new flagship” was just plain wrong/bad marketing, the word 3000 is 1000000000x stronger than the word> flagship and it’s a one of the greatest marketing legacies you bought from the old Akai after the word MPC,//!honestly fire whomever is responsible for this terrible oversight.. on top of this, times are changing, the world is changing, there’s an awakening in every aspect of our human perceptiveness, we can see through the media and the marketing bubbles, we are smarter now and are in the process of knowing the truth,..so at least show us the respect of being honest with the legendary MPC! its not just another product.., produce an instrument based on the legend of the MPC rather than producing something you think will move units..
Smarter design, Solid OS, High quality sound, and a great simple feel/worflow,, call it the MPC3500 ..> and you would haved stayed in game respectfully!
