Yes, Linn made workhorses. Yes, nukai is not as rugged. But the same thing that has made the mpc a SERIES going for 21 years is EASE OF USE. THE MPC MAY NOT THE MOST CAPABLE, or most expensive, but it works. Its reliable, and its easy to use. Who cares if Roger Linn made it, its still better than an mc-909, electribe fx, MV, SP-606, s-7000(debateable), maschine, mpk, mpd, so on. The MPC is alive because its ease of use, and reliability. So no matter if your a beginner, intermediate, or pro musician, you will love any mpc because it works, and therefore you work. Theyre new slogan should be MPC, makin dope beats since '88. But get a 2500

Where'd that come from?

I find the MC-909, MV 8800, Yamaha and RS7000 all incredibly interesting. I have no doubt in my mind I could do some amazing things with them.

Why won't I? Lack of money is a big one. Lack of space is another. The fact that I already have an MPC factors in too (who wants two machines around that pretty much do the same thing?) I hate to admit it, but sometimes it's nice to be using what most other people are, just for the sake of discussion and common ground. If I play you a beat and you know I made it on the MPC 500 for example, you can respect the complexity or lack thereof; you know what tools there are and aren't there to work with.

The biggest reason for me maybe? I'm just not motivated enough to learn another machine inside out, not unless it does something that's going to blow my mind. If I had the money to blow though? I'd definitely like to play with them all; who knows, one might win me over. I've always said I would get an MV-8800 before I wasted money on a 2500 or 5000. The RS7000 looks crazy too. Once you enter the 5000's price range I think it's time to look elsewhere.

Im just tired of seeing people fight about senseless comparisons. Nukai is shit. Roger Linn makes toys. Roland is unearthly and wicked. Korg will eat your soul. Blah blah fukken blah, i just wanted to let people know if theyre interested in an mpc, go out and toy with one, and ur gonna like it, one of em. My god theres so many, ya know. Probability 99 to one, theres an mpc just for you. Ya dig?

many might argue with you that mc909 or mv is better than your 2500. that's cuz those machines suit them better for what they do. in short answer, quality is important if you spending hundreds of dollars on piece of equipment.

you are right about mpc being dumb proof machine though but if you're pro musician you will need more than 100,000 notes and 96ppq

Correction, if your a REAL pro musician, you would have acoustic instruments or acoustically interfaced instruments. You would be Jerry Garcia or Stevie Wonder. You would be humping Steven Tylers daughter, Liv, for a record deal. Im just saying mpc's rock and they're easy to use. But get a 2500 :D  :P

Im sorry concept, that was arse holish of me, youve been alot of help on this forum. And you make great music. Im just tired of reading forums dissing other users intellegence because of their preference. It gets kinda ridiculous seeing someone call someone else an idiot because he thinks the 1000 rocks nuts over a 60II,or someone making a rude comment about someone elses preference of a 4000 over a 5000 because the lack of autochop in the 4k. Its MPC-FORUMS.com, not MPC-different kinds to argue about and make snyde remarks to eachother in hopes of solving an insolvable equation of personal preferance.com. I see it all the time in the mpc comparison forum, and much props to the guys who say what im sayin, go out and TRY ONE! internet tells you a bunch of technical mumbo jumbo, blah blah, and so on. Who cares if it has 96ppq or 960? I mean i understand if thats what your lookin for, you'd need to know that. But until three weeks ago, I never heard PPQ before, and i was always familiar with bars and ticks, acoustic timing. I never know there was such thing as Quantize until a ear go. Mainly we just did beatboxing with guitars, and some keyboard, sliced and looped on audacity. Thats ghetto music. Our first recording setup was a WEBCAM and a 6 year old DELL we got from a yard sale for 50 bucks. I did my researchnternet about samplers, beat machines n ish. I copped a zoom streetbox, a yamaha djxII, and a roland boss dr 880 for a hundred bucks. These are all great pieces of machinery, but none as easy to use as the mpc 1k red and blue i had. I would link em all up and make some dope beats(in my opinion). I still only know about 1/4 of the features on the dr880, i figured how to sample on my djxII a week ago (16 seconds, thats all you get too, spanned over 6 pads.) And i finally figured out all the functions of my streetbox today. It has 48 ppq. BUT IT ROCKS!!!!lmao. im so pulling the sounds offa this thing and usin em on an mpc. But if i had tried an mpc before buyin all this ish, i wouldve baught one in heartbeat. Point is stop the hate, make dope rythms. peace, im out

yes, that **** thing can sample. Its dope, has a sequencer for the 500 internal grooves, 6 sampling pads, 8 effects adjustable, 292 voices, (30 of they variations of people saying "thats hot" and YEHH!! and other chit.) It also has mid, hi, and low knobs(wayyyy tuned down eq) and part selectors and user and 1 bank for a user sequence. Record in, mic in, coaxial(rca) outs, beatmatching, tap tempo synced with beatmatching, and midi I/O. Its pretty cool man, if u find one for 50 bones at a yard sale, copp that ish!

When i bought my 500 it was i got like 35% the sale price at that time, it was the day after thanks giving, and i had just got into making music so i bought it because i hated softwarre. I knew nothing about any company at that point, i didn't even know what akai was. Now i would never use anything else, they make good shit thats easy to use, and sounds good.

fyi i have a 2000xl now i am not using my mpc500 much anymore.
