I got a question i was robbed of my 4k. I want to know should i buy another 4k or should i get a 2500. I want the 5k but i still have not learned the 4k .

The 2500 is a step down from the 4 and 5k, but it is still a quality machine so maybe it will fulfill your needs better.

I wouldn't go back from MPC4000 to MPC2500. Soundwise, the 4k is simply better, especially the set of filters, full fledged keygroup sampling and the possibility to sample at high rates and bandwith. I started with the MPC2500 using Akai OS, JJOS 1/2/XL and I actually had a better start with the 2500. It also offers some nice possibilities with JJ OS that are missing on the 4k like direct recording, permanent input through combined with a very user friendly interface. If you're looking at pure sample ripping to put your music together, the 2500 will be great. If you need "instruments", get the 4k and take advantage of full keygroup sampling.
The more I'm using the 4k, the less I will look back to the MPC2500. The bugs in OS1.71 don't hinder me from making my music.

Permanent input thru - does that mean I can run, for example, my DJ set up through the MPC so that I can use one set of monitors plugged into the MPC?

And that feature isn't available in other MPCs?
Damn, I was already going to get the 2500 but now it's 100%. The Akai manual is very vague when it talks about how it does input thru, so good to know!

Input Thru is available on the 1000, 2500, 5000
The 1000 and the 2500 is basically the same machine Hardware Wise.
