keep the 1000 and sell the 500.

the only thing better about the 2kxl compared to the 1000 are the full sized pads.

If I knew the differences between the 2kxl and the Nukai models, I would have went with the Nukai models.

BTW, secondhand mpc1000 and 500 is close to US $1000. The SE2 is worth $650-$750.

Don't do the trade.

It sounds like you've made your mind up already, but don't forget it is still just an xl under the hood. Your 1k has more features and upgrade possibilities so bare that in mind. As far as I know the buttons and tact switches are nearly identical too, so don't let that sway you. Do you have the option of a trade with the 500 and some cash, because I think that would be the best of both worlds?

If you're not already part of the JJ bandwagon then it's well worth considering.

Like the difference between night and day! Don't even hesitate... try the free version and if you like that buy into the full versions. Honestly, there's no looking back from it.

Yeah Do the JJ OSXL upgrade and you wont even look at that 2000XL again...lol

Depends on what you want to do, I'd say. The 1K kicks the XL up and down the street when it comes to features (just wait until you've watched a waveform oozing slowly across the XL screen) but I dig the size and feel of the 2000 series for blapping out a bongo solo. It just feels like more of an instrument in those instances, I guess.

I also think there's a nice challenge in getting a project to fit on a floppy disk, especially if you're using the 1K with a CF card the rest of the time. It's like, I don't know, switching to manual in the Death Star trench or making some soup. It keeps you grounded.

So it's nice to have an OAP alongside the 1K, but I'd never get shot of the 1K - and definitely, definitely get that JJ. In fact if you're hankering for a new MPC that's the cheapest and best option. The only downside is you'll kick yourself for not doing it earlier.

Note that's making some soup, not just heating up a can of the stuff, which is the equivalent of using a preset rhythm on an MC-303 except you can't eat it when you're done. Unfortunately.

I would, especially if it's mint condition...1k, 500 will always be around...that 2000xl se is collectors item. prolly worth even more few years from now.
