Choosing MPC and good deal?

I been looking into buying an MPC for a while but don’t really know witch one would suite me best. Have been using software like Reason and Abelton a little but would like to be making more sample based, I know you can do this with those software to but of the videos I have seen on Youtube the MPC seems more fit for this or am I completely wrong.
I would like to make stuff in the same vain as Paul White,Bullion, Madlib, Jay Dee, Samiyam, Flying Lotus, Lord Finesse, Avalanches, Quiet Village, Pete Rock, Ras G, Thes One, Oh No and The Gaslamp Killer. I know I know big names but you got to have goals right.

I have an offer to buy an unused and still in box MPC 4000 for 1000 buck is that a good deal?

Thats an excellent deal for the 4000, but if possible - I suggest you try a 2500 with JJOS on it. I think the workflow using this combination is better than any other, and Im aware that this would be your first mpc. Its no good having all the power of a 4000 if your workflow doesn't enable you to use it. That's in no way a comment on you - these things take at least MONTHS to learn properly, and Im not sure if I bought a 4000/5000 instead of a 2500 with JJOS I'd still have an mpc.

Trying JJOS will probably change your opinion of the AKAI OS like it has done for me and a few others.

ask yourself who would shell out $3000 on mpc 4000, didnt even use it, kept it in the box all these years to later sell for $ 1000

From what i've read on the forum it seems there are two sides to the 4000 story, people who love it and say there is nothing that can't be done on it and then there are people who think that it was a mistake. What are the bad things about it and is the software so diffrent from the jj? i read someplace that jj did the software fro the 4000 to.

I'ts a music shop that has so i guess if the say it's new it probably should be.. but you never know. When i look around on ebay it does indeed seem like it's a grea deal because i find that folks are trying to sell them for 1500-2500 used but often with extras. But it does seem strange that a store should sell an mpc that has no support and is not even made anymore for the same price as when it came out and with mind that there are several new models out that would far more attract new customers?
