i currently got a mpc1000 maxed out with jjos2, i use the effects of a yamaha a4000 and when needed a s6000.

would it be worth it to take all this and get a mpc4000? i'm currently doing all my recordings on the mpc1000 and i think the mpc4000 would be very nice because of it's onboard effects and the much more usable ram.

my main concern is about the effects, i would like to have everything, or almost, in one box. i would keep my kp3 for live use and that would be about it.

Get a decent fx rack instead such as a TC-Electronics FireworX. But the MPC-4000 is THE king of MPC's! Trust me!! The effects in the 4000 is the same as in the Z4/Z8.

the fx in the 4k r very usefull- but in these affluent days our (hardware)samplers ,filters and even sequencers are "crap" apparently.not true imo!!!theres some subtle usefull fx in there.and its nice to have it "in the box".irie

Efx on the 4k are quite usable but probably more in subtle fashion. Plus whenever you decide to go with most of your recording/sampling chores in high rez, the 4k is the only hardware sampler capable of achieving this.

Personally, I don't use the efx on my 4k because I have s/w and h/w versions that do a better job imo.
