just Bought MPC 2000xl mcd

HEy guys i bought the MPC 2000xl mcd recently. i chose it over the 1000. was this smart on my part or bad idea?

i could just take it back and exchange at the guitar center i bought it at.. but could you elaborate on y u think the 1k is better fam?

My advice would be to test it out and see how you like it. There are guys on here rocking MPC 60's and making straight FIRE! It all really comes down to how you flip your tracks. Creativity is your friend.

I wouldn't return it man. 2000XL is a dope piece. Better pads, casing, flipable screen then the 1000. The 1000 is just more feature rich w JJOS. Which really doesn't matter that much. I used most of the MPC's new and old, and still prefer to use a MPC60.

Did you buy your mpc 2000xl mcd used from guitar center? I just copped one on ebay in great condition.

I have the 1000 with JJOS2 and 2000XL the 1000 barely gets turned on as i prefer working on the 2000XL. Pretty much all I use the 1000 for now is to store drum breaks to sample into the 2000 and to sync up to external modules eg keyboards etc to give some additional options the 2000XL runs everything. the 1000 is dope dont get me wrong and has a lot of great features but it also has a lot of things i don't require and it just does not have the feel of the 2000XL in my mind.

depends on what you are doing... I bought an mv8000 which is filled with all sorts of stuff I dont need but I needed the 512megs of ram so I had 3 choices... mv8000,mv8800, and the mpc4000. I took the 8000 because the price couldn't get lower then that.

personally I prefer the xl over the 1k but I wont lie... the 1k features burn the xl. just dont drop the 1k.

Hi, I've just signed up to the forum in hope that someone could help me with my decision on buying an MPC, im faced with the difficult option of either going for a 1000 or a 2000XL, either will have to be second hand as the money is running a bit thin but I've seen some 2000XL's going cheap on ebay these past few weeks but I'm undecided as to what MPC to go with seen as the 1000 and JJ OS sounds really handy. If someone could point me in the right direction that'd be great.

I produce mostly deep house, and love raw percussion and I want to get that jacking vibe. I'm fed up of producing in ableton and I really want to move into the hardware domain, producing hands on seems to be something I'm more into after visiting a friends studio.

I'm looking to add a few drum machines in the future, roland TR727 and a Jomox MBase11, and I will be adding some Synths to my setup, so I'm wondering if the 2000XL would fit in with that or would the MPC 1000 be better suited? The pads look alot better on the 2000XL and it looks like its built like a tank. BTW I'm looking to completely phase out a computer in my producing, and go with an external desk, mpc, and some analog synths and drum machines.

The reason I've explained the music I make and the setup I'm looking to go towards is so it can help anyone point me in the right direction. Also is there any audible difference in the sound quality between the 1000 and 2000XL and maybes any difference in swing? Its mainly swing I'm after.
