MV8800 to MPC2500

So i have a MV-8800 and i feel it is to much for what i want to do. I am not downing the machine its great but there is to much on it and it hinders my work flow. I just want to make beats and call it a day. So my question to you guys is that i really enjoyed the MPC 2000xl; i felt it lacked sample tweaking though but it did its thing as far as sequencing and had a great work flow. I am looking at the MPC 2500 i do not like the feel of the pads but i have read it is a beefed up version of the XL. So what upgrades does the 2500 have over the XL?

Should i buy a 2500; which is pricey or buy a XL which is cheaper and get say get a music program and a cheap keyboard with it? Just looking at the options out there. Thanks and Hi to all!


PS I do HipHop music mostly sample based.

I'll buy a 2500 and trade for you MV

The 2500 has the extra outs and effects as standard, a bigger screen, plus you can use a choice of os from JJ.

Keep the MV and learn it, Master it! That machine is a beast.

do not doubt the MV it has its own unique nature, emphazise on master

If u just want to make beats and want a straight forward flow I'd go for the mpc.
If u want to grow and step ur game up I would try and learn the MV.

MV isnt any harder than MPC is...the problem is when someone uses MPC for years then make switch and calls quits afater first week. either machine will do you just fine, matter of feel and user interface you comfortable with.

to jump in here, I got a flyer in the mail recently, Guitar Center blowing out the 2500 AND the MV for 900$ I believe... along with a few other nice items like Yamaha Midi Controller kbds for cheap..

and I just paid $1000 for my 2500 used.

Interesting. I personally would stick with the MV8800. I wish the mpc could build tracks like the MV8800 does, It would be very nice to just drag tracks into place.

used to have JJ v1 I think on my 2500, but I dont recall non destructive chopping or improved file managment.

You are correct OS1 didn't have it.
In OS2 and then OSxl JJ did some pretty impressive things.

If you got a computer the mv is sure overkill.but it sounds huge.............

One of the biggest draws about the MV is that it gives you a combo of computer workflow with MP style workflow with the ability to use how little or much of each aspect that you desire.
Gives a very personalized workflow without getting that computer feel so many hate.
