are the mpc1000 and 2500 100% compatible?

hi guys,

quick question: can i load my flash card with all my tracks made on the mpc 1000 into the 2500 and will it be 100% compatible? i'm playing a gig tomorrow abroad and can borrow an mpc 2500 there, so i wont have to bring my 1000. but i'd like to be 100% sure all especially the audio and midi outs and pad mappings will still be the same. i'm not doing any fancy stuff with it, just playing sequences with internal and external sounds and occasionally use the pads live..

You know man, you should still take/use your mpc 1000 at your live gig regardless just because your muscle memory of the layout of the 1000

it would be like a dj use to technics 1200's setup sideways on the table going to a gig that has numark turntable turned regular style


he could still play all his records but not being use to the layout and feel of the decks would increase chance of foul ups and not be as relaxed/comfortable during the gig

plus worse comes to worse it dont work... you aint screwed. I suspect they might be compatible with each other if both are on the akai OS... but for midi out assignment and all that I wouldn't risk it. Plus what if he is using JJOS and you are not, or vice versa... or different versions of jjos.. all that adds to the chance of it not working and you know a method to pull it off with 100% guaranteed reliability.

heh heh.. probably true, though the 2500 doesnt seem to be that different.. pads, dial, start/stop knob, dont need much else..

normally we travel with 2 and then its no problem. this time its a solo gig, so i need to travel as light as possible.. i have too much gear with me already.. and im not happy about having to check one bag in, either..

well, i mailed the guys my storage card contents, and it seems they cant load in all the samples as there's not enough memory.. so its not even a matter of the OS being incompatible, but the memory amount. never even thought of that. so it looks like the 1000 is flying with me after all..

lol, they dont have the ram upgrade in their 2500? lol... I guess they dont use it much.

I have the 1000 and use a buddys 2500 all the time, no difference un less you use the stock sounds on your mpc 1000 becuse the 2500 has different ones, but ya your buddy definatly need the memory upgrade
