Thoughts on an MPC 2000 for $300?

well what do you mean the scsi interface? is it the scsi port routed to the inside of the machine? im guessing so if it has internal zip... which is the first thing you will need to remove.

I think if the screen is mint it is mediocre.. not too badly priced. Would be nice if that included the EB16 as well... but not every mpc for sale is an absolutely sick deal.

I guess it's okay, rule out the scsi interface which is not actually any type of interface.. it's just a routing thing that can be done on any machine.. and rule out the zip because that is asking for loosing piles and piles of data... you are left with a 2000 and the 8 outs.

if it is an XL, go for it... if it's not then I would skip this one unless he shaves 100 bucks off the price.

I do somehow prefer the classic 2000 over the 2000xl sound wise for some reason... maybe it is one of those mental things or something but I find it slightly warmer or something unexplainable.. not really that noticeable though.

sounds decent. Nothing wrong with the 2k classics though most people will tell you stack a little more bread for a 2kxl. I have always had a thing for the 2k classics myself.

That's a really good price, especially if the screen is in good condition. Still, I'd pass on a 2000 over an XL. I have a 2000 sitting in my studio, but it never gets used, apart from ragging it for spares for my XL
