should i wait for this new controller instead of the renaiss

i've been thinking of getting a mpc renaissance for a while now but have just found this also made by akai

that actually looks interesting... the akai APC40 was an excellent ableton controller... i don't see why this couldn't be just as good if not better.

it's quite different from an MPC though... it's up to you to figure what best suits your creative needs.

pressure sensitive pads for one thing... but no faders.

actually, you know what... i'm just gonna be honest and say it... don't get a renaissance. you're better off with one of the ableton controllers from akai because ableton is actually stable software [unlike the current 1.1 version of the ren OS]... the new MPCs have yet to prove themselves worthwhile [especially at the high cost]... so i think either this or the APC40 would be a better investment for making music on a computer. real talk.

both controllers would be good in slightly different ways for workflow within a daw.
i think it will be a lot better than the apc40 for controlling everything in ableton without using a mouse.

I would definitely get this over the Ren if it was a choice between the two.

yeah I always thought they looked kind of neat... but they look sort of tedious to use, and they feel kind of isolated.. I'm not sure how to explain it, but it looks like it needs a file/edit/etc menu or something
