Can't decide which MPC to choose? Read these resources or post your questions here.

About 2 weeks ago I had an accident with my 2500 (jjos2xl) luckily I was covered on insurance and they have posted out an mpc renaissance that will arrive tomorrow, thats cool and I'm happy with that and the more I research it the more I like the sound of the ren, BUT (and its a massive BUT) I can't explain how comfortable I am with jjos, I love it and I love not having to have a computer hooked up to use it. I suppose my question is, has anyone here gone from os2xl to ren and had success?

I know the simple answer is to give it a go and if I don't like it just sell it but I think I'd get loads more on ebay if it was completely unopened and unused.

I'm also thinking about 128xl with a 1000….

arghhh decisions decisions!!

You should have explained to the insurance company why the Renaissance isn't a replacement for the 2500 by going with the standalone vs computer requirement.

Would have made more sense to try that then create all the uncertainty you have been dealing with.

I would have only accepted the Renaissance if they also threw in a computer, not because the Ren is bad but to give them a perspective on things.

Maybe you can play dumb when it arrives by telling them you didn't realize that it only ran on the computer and you need it to be standalone because of your usage?

The biggest driver I see in your uncertainty is that you were happy with JJ and not looking to change that so the whole idea of the Ren has to feel somewhat forced.

If the insurance company won't make any concessions then you would probably be right about selling it unused and getting yourself a 2500 or even 1k.
I would suggest finding the replacement MP first then that would let you know how cheap you can sell the Ren instead of trying to say what the Ren is worth.

The Ren market is saturated heavily right now since they are so cheap new.

Hello again ntalec, I replied about that on the ren and studio area…I wrote ''yeah I thought so myself, I even argued that it wasn't a like for like swap because the renaissance requires a computer where as the 2500 doesn't but they didn't seem to be having any of it. I'm not 2 bothered though, I just appreciate the fact that the insurance ''paid out'' without any hassle.''

looking back I probably should of stood my ground, I was kind of caught off guard at work with my boss stood over me, another phone ringing and like I said I was just surprised that they would pay out no questions asked.

I think I'll just list it immediately on ebay and get a 1000 and the big screen 128xlcd with the money.
As much as I'm tempted to keep it I have to remind myself that I sold my maschine because I was fed up with it not being purely standalone.

well thanks again for the reply!

Maybe you could find someone on the board here that would trade their 2500 for a new Ren ?

You in the U.S. or overseas?
