Looking for my first sampler. I want to make experimental hip-hop/neosoul, and I’m wondering if I should buy something older, like a 2000 or a 1000, or something new like a Live or Studio.

Get a used live they should be dipping in price. If you don’t need the in and outs get a brand new one. It will be the quickest for you to get up and running and have modern features.

I'm not going to hold my tongue on this, but whatever you do...stay away from an mpc 5000. The logic put into that joint is just straight crazy!

Why doesn't the MPC one have an optical adat out? Do the TRS gate/cv outputs double as extra analog audio outs using 1/8" stereo cables? It looks even smaller than an MPC 1000.

I'm wondering why optical adat out is missing from a lot of newer devices. Why? It's a great way to get many extra outputs via one small port. and it's fast. Since newer MPC's don't have the characteristic sound via analog outs, optical adat out should be a no brainer. I doubt usb is better.

I would have LOVED 8dat on X. Yes, I call it 8dat sometimes.
