I would like some feedback from MPC users who owned the older MPC and current models. How do the sound quality compares using the same drum samples ?

Will the same drum kit sound the same on the older and newer MPC ?

My experiences so far is that newer synths and recording gear sounds brighter and not as warm as older gear.

Sounds about the same to me, without over driving or treating the samples in any particular way... but I'm not sure what you're comparing.

I'd agree that the MPC 60 does sound a bit different due to the 12-bit sampling... but beyond that the 4k/1k/500/2500/MPC X/MPC Live all sound nearly the same to me just playing the sample as is. The 4k has a bit of a benefit for 96khz sampling when talking about time stretching, but even that isn't necessarily making it a clear cut winner... just that you can pitch down a bit further and still have fidelity. However... I know the kids these days like the dirt, grit, and artifacts that can be found... so *shrug*.

All that said... I'm pretty sure you can go after most sounds you'd be looking for on modern MPCs if you're looking to chase "that dragon".

I think the difference in warmth between the 4K and 2KXL is caused by the built in fan the 4k has.

On a serious note: MPC500/2500/Live/Studio. Never heard a notable difference.

Same here.. It's easier to spend a couple minutes EQing and refining the entire song. I focus more on the tonal qualities of the notes and how I can layer different sounds to add to it.

A Sprinkle of EQ/Compression on the Outputs will make them ALL sound the Same

I enjoyed that. Thanks for sharing. It actually IS an escape from my normal and let my ears travel with the changing sounds/atmosphere.
