For every great point Marlow's making here... I find one point I'm scratching my head on...

The swing, the sound, "it's what dilla used", for instagram pics --> better off getting a new mpc
Are you ready to commit to maintaining it and upgrading it so it's compatible with the rest of your setup? Cf card, usb, etc, RAM upgrade if it's not already got it, screen maintenence, etc. no --> new mpc
Otherwise go for it.
Sidenote, I got the same Ikea chair as him.

it’s like guns. I rec every 1 who is responsible have 1-2 guns for hunting/self-defense. I know “collectors” who have 2-3 fancy rifles that they haven’t touched in 12-16 months because they have an arsenal of 10-20 guns. My MPC will slap me for cheating if I ignore her for more than a month

I am by no means saying the 4k is the end all be all... but the way he passed it off as "just a sampler" had me scratching my head... that thing is crazy deep... and a lot of the things that are nice on the new MPC line help streamline things for new users way more than the 4k ever will. Later ya'll.
