akai s900 & s950

whats the main differences between these two samplers?

S900:
Sample rate 7.5 to 40 khz

S950:
Sample rate 7.5 to 48 khz
Memory expandable from 750 KB to 2.25 MB

Both offer 12-bit sampling.

The S 950 can hold up to 99 samples unlike the S 900, which can only hold up to 32.
It offers sampling rates up to 48 kHz, but only with a digital input installed, as to be found on the IB 105 interface.
With a digital input, you can record from a CD or DAT drive either only the left channel, or only the right channel, or both channels into a mono mix.
While recording digitally, the audio level is also able to be boosted by up to 12 dB.
The 950 also offers time-stretching and is able to load data from a disk while it is playing a program.
Both samplers are expandable to use SCSI and DMA drives, but they need different interface boards for these jobs.
(S 900: IB 101A offers DMA, IB 101S offers SCSI;
S 950: IB 105 offers DMA, coaxial and optical digital input, IB 109 offers SCSI)
The boards were also offered from Mutec under different product numbers.

out of all of those kinda of samplers( s950,s900,s5000,s6000,ect) which one is the best

Z8 .. I picked that from the "etc" catagory.... But you can just by an MPC 4000 with it in it, since they are out of production.

some people say that 6k is vicious because of the screen and how you can pop it off and use it like a remote...

i dont need all that. i havent used any other s series samp. except for the s5000...its a beast
