Why the need for multiple units..

I was wondering, what is the need for people to have multiple MPC units nowadays. I can understand if you had an MPC 60/3000 and you wanted to have all your samples loaded at all times but with units such as the MPC2500/4000 why more than one. I have even read of people have the 4000 and the MV-8000. Both machines are beats on their own so it makes me wonder what you would need two for. My personal opinion is that the money would be better spent getting some new new synth units, software or even some more records to sample from. Any input is appreciated.

i dunno. sometimes when people upgrade they don't get rid oftheir old piece for nostalgia/etc, which i can understand.

i have an sp404 and a 1000 and i've been asked why before, but i use the sp as a module/sound effects box. i personally think producing on the sp404 is harder than producing on the mpc!!!

Every machine is different and can inspire different music sounds ect... Even though a piece is made to replace a piece it will never do exactly every thing the other machine does hence the nuances or workflow will always differ from machine to machine. That is why .. or they like it for decoration... One or the other really...

also for people who got enough money, they can just replace it cause they are bored of a piece of gear and want to experment. but they still want to keep all their gear

I agree with that.

I sway with the 4k & a Roland R8, don't know what I'd do without them.

It's just hard sometimes to let go on some of the machines you grew up with. You can do things on them without even thinking but, you still might want to check out some of the new technology of today.

Cuz you may end up regretting letting go of your first love.
