Newbie-buying 2500 and s950, good idea or not?

I have been using Ableton's live for several years. Feeling pretty dry. Thinking to get MPC. My thought is to get an used 2500 (bc of the CF card and USB so that I can still edit samples in computer) and s950 for sound. Do you think it's a good workflow to sample thru s950 and then re-sample to 2500? The s950 (in theory) will be my crunchy beat sampler/processor. At the end, all sounds and samples will be hosted in 2500. What do you think?

The s950 would just be a luxury. The sound out of the 2500 is quite powerful.

I say get the 2500, and if you really feel like your tracks will benefit from the sound of the s950(and cash aint an issue). then get both...

Cool! I am planning to have MPC 2500 be the main machine and have my laptop running Ableton's Live as slave. S950 is around $200 these days. Didn't portishead use that? I just want to find a way to re-create that kind of dirty lo-fi beat. Tired of trying to simulate that feel in computer, never got it right!

Could 2500 sample in 12-bit? If it does, is the sound warm in comparison to s950 and 60?

The setup you are imagining is a great one. Get both samplers and have fun.
