Balanced Outs When 8 Outs Option

If I get an MPC, say 2000, 2000xl or 3000, with the 8 outs option, are those outs going to be balanced or unbalanced outputs?

Probably focusing on the 2000xl.

Using "stereo cables" is better imo, it makes u use 2nd ring as ground, so u may have less noise...

Not quite as easy as just a different cable. Balanced is the de-facto pro standard and anywhere I would want to plug these inputs in (mixing board) has balanced ins across all channels. In order to accept these inputs, if they are unbalanced, I would insert a DI box on each line out. Chance for noise to creep into the signal path.....just wondering if anyone knows for sure, balanced vs. unbalanced and if unbalanced how do you do the conversion before you hit your recording interface so it is clean.

On the 8 outs I though so too. Never heard using balanced cable on 8 outs, but I may be wrong.

That could get expensive.

Yes you're right! But u still can use stereo cables, so first ring for the mono signal and second ring as ground.

I use them ey'time i multitrack even on my pré, comp or ey'thing. I know know 8 out are sending mono signal i just want to let you guys know how to get less noise when recording or tracking beats.

On the 3k, only the sample inputs are balanced, not outputs..

Thank you. That answers my question.....it would be the same on the 2000xl I would think.

If the 8 outs were balanced, you would use a 1/4" TRS (Tip Ring Sleave)connector probably with a male XLR on the other end into your board.

Real quick to clear this up,

Stereo and Balanced cables are the same thing, TRS

What makes the difference is the jack, wether it is configured as stereo or balanced i.e. sending a left and right signal or sending duplicates of the same signal and throwing them out of phase to cancle noise.

Its my understanding that the MPC 8 outs are unbalanced. If you want to get the noise out of the signal you would use a PASSIVE Direct Box.
