1000 vs. 2000xl - STILL UNSURE...

SERIOUS QUESTION: What's the diff between the 1000 and the 2000xl?

I just read that whole thread on it and still didn't get any facts, only opinion..
I can't find any good comparisons on these two.

Apologies if this has already been asked. The thing is they have very similar price tags. I like the fact that the 2000XL has more outputs and a hinge screen, but beyond that is there any other difference?

2000 xl cons : Bigger pads, 8 outputs, low pass filter only with resonnance. as the machine is bigger most users find it more confortable to work with.

1000 cons : portable, 2 filters per pads (low, band, high), 2 sliders (but smaller), Cf card reader in standard. a loads of functions (see jj os). USB, LFO...

different workflow.

but basically they both are mpc's. so the best thing you can do, is afford the cheapest. i would say, the 1K as more software features than the 2kXl(a few...).

if you can have an 2kxl, with 8 ouputs, and max ram, for less than 500 $ go with that.

if you are willing to spend more than 500 $, dont waste your time and money, get a 1K.

in any case, you cant really go wrong with those models.

So the 1000 seems pretty damn superior, judging by those so-called cons. CF card and portability are key. I think the pads on 1000 are plenty big. I still wish it had build-in delay, though.

Any idea where to find either of these two for anywhere around that 500 mark?

there is an internal effect board in the 1K (or just a chip whatever...).

it includes a compressor, a delay, a reverb, a bit crusher, an 4 band EQ, rotary speakers, and some more.

the things you need to be aware of, is the mpc 1k pad technology seems kinda weak compared to the other mpc'series. (even the 500 where akai draws back to they old stuff).

my personnal experience, is that i've the mpc1k for 2 years and more ( wes just out in france when i bought it) and i never had pad issue yet. but a lot a users report it..so...

you can look at the gear for sale section of this forum, seems to work pretty well. and you can diss ppl if they are not right in fora (i am joking , don't! keep personal problem private)

a lot of American users seems to find a lot of their stuff on craig list.

in Europe (as i see you are from lisboa) check european forums. dont buy it in France, i dont know why, but for some reason french ppl always overrate and overprice their gears.

you could to ebay too, but be aware that there is a lot of scammers or fake e-sellers
for the 1k i would recommend you to buy it new. or heavily test the product before buying if copped used.

if pads velocity dont works, it is still worth buying those machine. you will have to do it by hand thats is all.

like a sample, a machine has to be digged !
